I was a member of AVS forums for 15 years

Reviewed on 2020-06-25T04:11:40

I was a member of AVS forums for 15 years. I tried to have simple civil discourse on topics but whatyou find is that vendors with financial interests dominate the forums and they will relentlessly attack you if you post anything negative about their product. Recently I suffered racist attacks and simple post about comparing 2 technologies. how oes a talk about projectors get responded to by attacking someone like they were a dumb chimp? I was greeted with posts linking to youtube videos about dumb chimps and multiple racists posts about how dumb chimps are which in the environment right now is strait up racist. The mods clearly favor their vendors and keep this environment. Its pretty terrible. This is not a site for real talk about av. If they dont have financial interest, they are fan-boys and will group attack you. Avoid this place, find a better source of info.

Ditto

Reviewed on 2019-04-20T05:24:09

Ditto, The site is ruled by retailers and money, who will say anything to protect their products and sales.People have been banned from the forum for sharing product problems that were not fixable by firmware updates thus protecting sales of defective units. Do you want to trust a site that will protect retailers , in favor of you getting defective equipment?. Did not think so. Lots of better places to find out about electronics than this place.

Ruled by advertising ( money )

Reviewed on 2016-04-12T17:39:24.691

The site is not what it once was, its become a advertising site where your not very welcome if youdont agree with new products pushed there. The general impression is that moderators rule whats said or not about products, specially if the product is from a vendor on the site. Its not a forum for consumers, but for the retailers.
