Avoid Boots opticians or get ripped off!!!

I had my eye test at a Boots opticians branch. The eye test cost me only £25. However,the staff tricked me into pay £440 for a pair of varifocal glasses.
Right after the eye test, one staff member collected the prescription from the optometrist and took me straight to her desk an started taking measurements for the glasses and made me pay the full amount and order the glasses within minutes. There was no chance for me to even consider shopping around before making the decision whether to buy the glasses at Boots Anyway, within 10 minutes of making the payment at Boots, I found out that the same pair of glasses would have cost me only £285 at another shop. I went back to Boots and asked them to cancel the order and make a refund, and they refused to make a full refund saying the order has been placed and the lenses are being processed. I was not told this before making the payment. Why would anyone pay £155 more for the same pair of glasses??? Please avoid Boots opticians at any cost. There are much better and cheaper options out there. Get your prescription first and shop around before you order your glasses.

Helpful and efficient staff throughout the store. Zain (optometrist) was fantastic and so lovely to my 7 year old.She made the sight test fun for him and took the time to show him the images of his eye, explaining what the images showed. Zain has a lovely energy about her that immediately puts you at ease. Her friendly, enthusiastic and professional nature were all very much appreciated.
Matt helped me select new frames and was great at giving me his opinion on each pair I tried (I’d requested his help with this). I really appreciated his honest opinion and guidance.
Thank you to the team at Boots Horsham for a smooth and pleasant experience.

We visited Boots Opticians Corby today and were overwhelmed with the fantastic service and eyewear on offer.Having visited independent opticians previously, we were apprehensive attending. However, Emma was very knowledgeable went above and beyond at making us feel at ease. The optician Kajol was very professional, explained everything in detail and even advised about super foods to help my eyes!!
We will definitely be returning again and recommending to our friends and family.
Please pass on my thanks to the entire team.

Poor service from Boots Opticians - Romsey. Despite phoning me a few days prior to my appointment and asking COVID-19 related questions,they failed to inform me that as I had tested positive for COVID 8 weeks ago, I would need to produce a negative test result in order to get an eye test. So, I turned up for my pre-booked appointment and was turned away.

Had a bit of an emergency late afternoon when my eye became very bloodshot and swolen.Phoned the New Milton Branch and spoke to Sam and asked if Mr Ali could have a look as I was very worried. Went straight up to the shop and the 2 of them went through a thorough examination and reassured me that there was no real damage. Drops in and it will improve. DO NOT GO TO BOOTS FOR YOUR EYE TEST AS THEY CHARGE MORE THAN ANYONE ELSE. THEY ARE A RIP OFF ANDDAYLIGHT ROB YOU.
I have always had my eye tests and glasses at Boots and have done so for many years. On my recent test I was advised of new technology OCT which cost £25.
Since I am getting old near to OAP age, I thought I have it done. I mentioned this technology to my friend who said he had it done at Specsavers on Good Friday at a cost of only £10, which checked out. Obviously, I am not happy with Boots charging £25 and being ripped off by Boots when they are supposedly the market leader, a national trusted icon blue chip company, who should set the pace for others to follow. Instead they fleeced their loyal vulnerable customers.
I complaint to Mr. James the MD of Boots that I was not happy that they charged £25 for the same test and that I want the difference refunded. His Executive Office replied within 2 hours after their lack of investigation and I was flabbergasted by the complaint handlers reply. Basically, I was advised the charge beforehand and Boots do not price match and would not refund the difference. He will forward my experience to the Optician Team. It was completely standard reply with no concern or empathy for the customer. Their price was 150% more than their competitor; £15 to Boots might not be much but a lot to someone who is uncertain of employment due to Covid.
I have given them an opportunity to rectify the issue and their response has left me feeling angry.
Customer loyalty means nothing to Boots.
If you want an eye test go to Specsavers; that is where I will go in future.
Boots, you have lost my custom and I wonder how many loyal customers that you can cheesed off.

Fantastic opticians I cannot fault them and their expertise. I was recommended them several years ago after a disappointing experience at a private optometrists.There is no pushy sales just genuine care, expert opticians and staff and honest help. The whole experience is about your eye health and what’s best for you, and all budgets are covered. There are never any nasty surprises with costs and the frames are so affordable that I can even treat myself to a pair of prescription sunglasses for myself and my child too!! I have recommended them to my family and friends and would like to extend my gratitude to the dispenser Allema and the fabulous optometrist Sobia, an incredibly knowledgable and personable individual who explains all so fully and reassuringly and has helped greatly on my recent visit a week or so ago. Thank you so much to the entire team to at Daventry Road it’s always a pleasure to attend.
