Do not attempt to rent a car from hertz in highland park IL if you are a POC. Rude,unprofessional and overtly racist behavior. Have emailed corporate regarding the refund of our prepaid reservation. No response. Customer service billing keeps you on hold for 1/2 hour then disconnects call without ever answering our questions. Extremely poor customer service at all levels.

I made a reservation at the Hertz website on 5/17/21 to pick up a car at the Roswell location (Holcomb Bridge.My reservation # J7650204703. When I arrived at the location around 5pm and spoke to the gentleman working at the desk I was told he had no cars, that no one was returning cars and asked if I made my reservation thru a 3rd party. I informed him “No” and showed him my confirmation. He went on to say that he was also getting a few cars serviced and that he should have a few cars tomorrow 5/18/21 and apologized for the inconvenience. I asked if he was sure he would have cars the following day and he went on to say YES and then asked when I wanted to come back. He even offered to be in office at 7:30am. I went on to tell him that I was having a procedure done that following day so I didn’t know how I would be feeling and if I would be ok to drive so I told him around same time as 5/17/21 (5pm). And told him to please not forget me. He wrote my reservation & name in a yellow sticky note apologized once again and I left. On 5/18/21 I woke up early and since I didn’t have to be at the procedure location until 9:30am and living so close I decided to walk there at 7:30am since they opened at 8am. My walk only took 15 minutes so I waited. When the lights were turned on a gentleman walked in and I walked in right after him. I did notice this time a couple cars in the parking lots including the Ford Focus I had reserved sitting right next to the Hertz van plus another option I was offered online but declined. When I walked in I said “Good morning, do you remember me? I know I said I would be coming back this afternoon but so to my procedure I don’t know if I will be able to drive so is there anyway I could please take the car this morning?) he went on to say that he still had no cars retuned and the gentleman in front of me was picking up the black pick up truck in the lot. I said ok, and asked what guarantees would I have as far as getting a car that evening. He said there’s no guarantees. I mentioned “so it’s pointless ro make a reservation then?” He said no, but that I had to make my reservation within 24 hours to be guaranteed a car. I didn’t mention the cars in the lot bc I figured I could have maybe been mistaken so I asked if it would be better for me to call before and he said “sure or I can call you?” I said ok and left. Well I never got any calls from him with anything and this morning at 6am when I pulled up my reservation it showed “No found” or doesn’t exist. I know feel this young gentleman probably lied to me about having cars specially after I saw it in the lot, makes me feel like I was right and he just didn’t want to provide me with service specially bc I never got any call with no updates. I first reserved with Hertz a year ago while my car was in a shop which is why I went back this year. I received such great service from your Peachtree location near the private airport in Atlanta that I decided to go back. But after how this gentleman at your Roswell location made me feel I think never again. So you can thank him for losing almost $500 dollars on a rental for 4 days. Maybe that’s not a lot of money to him or to your company, maybe that consider cheap change but with today’s economy during this pandemic I don’t think we can sit here and pick point who matters more. It’s about making guests/customers for life no?

I made the mistake of renting Hertz through Priceline. Thinking the car was paid in full, I went to the counter,picked up the car...and got a $500 ADDITIONAL charge to my credit card, FROM HERTZ, that I discovered after getting home from vacation, even after specifically verifying the car was paid in full, had a reservation, and so on with the clerk at the counter. Even the credit card company couldn't reverse the charges. Contacting customer service was 2 hours i'll never get back, to be offered "A $25 voucher towards my next rental" (declined). AVOID this company.

We were very pleased with our recent two week rental from Hertz. We drove from Detroit to Las Vegas (and back)with many items in a Volkswagen Atlas. It was perfect for what we wanted to do and the price was great. Hertz service was outstanding too.

Worst experience at a car rental ever. I had a reservation for the evening we flew into Dallas.Upon arriving at the rental center, we found a very long line and people standing all around the facility. After waiting in line for 30 minutes we made it to the counter where I gave the guy my reservation number. I had declined insurance because mine fully covers a rental. After several minutes, he asked my husband to sign the electronic pad. It all felt very rushed, but I assumed he was honoring my reservation. We never saw any contract or dollar amounts. My husband signed, they printed the contract, and placed it in a box. He said we should be getting a car fairly quickly. An hour and a half later, we were directed to a car, and handed the contract. Then I saw that we were charged $150 more than the reservation! When I talked to the company they said there was nothing they could to about the extra charge. It was long and frustrating and utterly ridiculous! Besides that, there were very few seats, which were all taken, so we stood the two hours we were there.

I rented a car from the Hertz in Las Vegas and confirmed I was dropping it off in Auburn, California.When I arrived in Auburn, I found the Hertz there was closed for business. I was told by customer service at Hertz that was where I was to drop off the car. After a 10 hour drive, I was then forced to drive another hour out of my way to Roseville to drop off the car. When I arrived, I explained to the gentleman at the counter that I was sent to Auburn, CA for drop off. Before I could finish he started telling me HE didn't tell me that, and that the location had been closed for over a year. I explained that I was dropping off a day early and that I also didn't want to be billed for the gas from Auburn to Sacramento (I had filled up in Auburn thinking I was dropping it off there). He was INCREDIBLY rude and told me he would "take it up with the CEO at dinner that night". He then proceeded to continue to be incredibly rude, insulting, belittling and dismissive to me. After that he then argued that I wasn't dropping the car off early, which I was. I requested the supervisor at which point he rolled his eyes and said he was busy. I insisted and 20 minutes later the supervisor came out. Not only was he able to pull up my reservation and show I was dropping it off a day early, but he was very kind and understanding about the fuel situation. He was able to take care of everything within minutes. Unfortunately, because of the rudeness, and disregard by the other employee, I will no longer be using Hertz. My company spends a great deal of money there and Enterprise will now be getting our fleet contract.

Please Please do yourself a favor and avoid this company at all costs. If its not bad enough thatthere where issues or cars being dirty and I mean filthy covered in pet hair as well as cars not being available even though I had paid and booked a reservation. I had Hertz rewards and had earned over 5000 Points. Enough to rent a car for like a week and a half for free. I haven't traveled really during Covid and was saving my points. Well I logged in today and guess what! can you imagine my surprise? My account shows 0 Points!!! Hertz stole all my points and claimed they expired. This company is an absolute joke. They are super happy to take your money but when it comes to redeeming rewards you earned they wont even respond to messages and customer service is no help either. This is by far the worst car rental company in the world.

My email to hertz lack of customer service. True shame that this email is rife with false information and claims!I never even received a response to my previous email with photos of the filthy cargo van that I rented in Fort Worth. The interior was not cleaned nor disinfected prior to rental. Although I now have both my shots, at the time I had neither COVID-19 vaccine shot. I shall rent from reputable companies only in the future! With no response on this email, I will be forced to post photos on social media about the Hertz version of pandemic cleaning!
