What is JB Hi-Fi's Revenue?

JB Hi-Fi's estimated revenue for 2023 is $4.92B.

What does JB Hi-Fi do?

The business was established in 1974 by Mr. John Barbuto (JB), trading from a single store in East Keilor, Victoria. He had one simple philosophy: to deliver a specialist range of Hi-Fi and recorded music at Australia's lowest prices. The business was sold in 1983 and by 1999 another nine stores were opened. In July 2000 JB Hi-Fi was purchased by private equity bankers and senior management with the aim of taking the successful model nationally. In October 2003, JB Hi-Fi was floated on the Australian Stock Exchange. Now, maintaining Barbuto's original philosophy, JB is one of Australasia's fastest growing and largest retailer of home entertainment. In July 2004, JB bought the Queensland Clive Anthony chain of stores which sell consumer electronics, white goods, cooking appliances and air-conditioning. JB stores offer the world's leading brands of Hi-Fi, Speakers, Televisions, DVD's, VCR's, Cameras, Car Sound, Home Theatre, Computers and Portable Audio and continues to stock an exclusive range of specialist Hi-Fi products. JB Hi-Fi also offers the largest range of video games, recorded music, DVD music and DVD movies with over 50,000 CDs and most major studio DVD releases, all at cheap prices! Customers are able to buy online from our huge range of CDs, DVDs, and games (see home page). JB Hi-Fi has it all - best brands, huge range, cheapest prices, convenient locations, but most importantly genuine personal service from our experienced specialist staff.

Refusal by JB Hi-Fi to satisfy a customer (for a teenage son) with an issue with a gift card

Reviewed on 2021-02-28T09:38:31

RE: Refusal by JB HI-Fi support to escalate my concerns to management who then provided false /misleading information instead of resolving a minor issue of $25.00 by allowing it to become totally disgraceful. On the 22/12/20 3:06am emailed the JB Hi-Fi support team regarding my son who has an unexpired Xbox $25 card which was received as a gift with the receipt attached from JB Hi Fi which still has the security code. On Monday 21/12/20 at the Northland (Preston Vic) store, my son tried to purchase a steam card with the Xbox card as he does not have an Xbox but this was refused by the store. Considering the Xbox gift card was purchased from JB Hi Fi (receipt attached) and he has no Xbox, it seems reasonable to exchange it for a STEAM gift card (same value) which is also sold by JB Hi-Fi as we are only talking about $25.00 but both the store and JB Hi-Fi support refuse. Yet EB Games allows this if you have a receipt. History 22/12/20 – Email to JB Hi-Fi support including the Subject Line states ‘To Regional manager’ but this is ignored. 06/01/21 – No response received after 15 days so another email is sent. 09/01/21 – JB Hi-Fi Support email received advising if it’s an online purchase (with a receipt) we can assist (I have a receipt and the card has not been used but no refund is available as it is not online, why the difference?) or 'If this purchase was made in store, please let us know so we can direct your enquiry to the appropriate team to assist' but this later proves to be a false and misleading statement. 25/01/21 – Email to JB Hi-Fi support advising the store receipt was Doncaster (information requested by support) and I have also asked for this to be escalated to the Customer Services Director and Sales Director which is ignored once again. 27/01/21 1:05pm – JB Hi-Fi Support email advises, ‘unfortunately the online department are not able to assist with in-store purchases, any further questions or concerns etc let me know BUT the case is then IMMEDIATELY CLOSED by support on the 27/1/21 1:05pm without my consent or agreement, WHY? Issues 1) Considering the Xbox gift card was purchased from JB HiFi (receipt attached to the gift card) and he has no Xbox, it seems reasonable to exchange it for a STEAM gift card (same value) which is also sold by JB Hi-Fi as we are only talking about $25.00 but both the store and JB Hi-Fi support refuse, is this customer service? 2) Why were my continual requests to escalate my concern to the Regional manager (always requested in the subject line) since the 22/12/20 ignored and why was my request to escalate this to the Customer Services Director and Sales Director on the 25/1/21 ignored / refused? 3) An online purchase with receipt can be resolved but an in store purchase with the receipt cannot be resolved, why the difference considering EB Games will exchange an Xbox gift card with a Steam gift card or similar if the receipt is provided, why not JB Hi-Fi? 4) On the 9/1/21, JB Hi-Fi support advise if it’s an in-store purchase we can assist which is false and misleading information because in a later email dated 27/01/21 support cannot assist and immediately close the case without consent nor agreement, why? Letter posted to JB Hi-Fi Head Office in Chadstone Victoria as at 28/2/21.

BEWARE, online shopping

Reviewed on 2021-02-21T05:55:43

Recently made a large purchase on line with JB HiFi. At the end of the process, after a charge had been made against my credit card,I get this message. No payment has been processed for this order but a pre-authorisation may have been taken by your bank or financial institution. If they have, pre-authorisation funds will be released back to you within 3-7 business days. The item I was buying was a replacement for a broken item, so, I needed it. I contacted customer service who supposedly made a request to my bank to process a pre authorisation release. Three days later the charge it still against my credit card, therefore not enough credit to buy the item elsewhere. Of course JB blames the bank. My question, why make the charge against the credit card if the transaction doesn’t meet their requirements. Customer service, what a joke, Customer no service would be more accurate! No more shopping with this dodgy lot for me!

Zero stars for the rude service from the woman with the orange hair and JB Hi-Fi North Lakes. If the manufacturer says I'm entitled to a refund then I don't need your attitude! I won't be shopping here again. I'll be going to Harvey Norman Aspley where I always get well looked after.

Poor after-sales service

Reviewed on 2021-02-09T07:01:20

After placing my order online, I was informed that the item would be delivered between 01 Feb and 09 Feb 2021,and that I would received an update once the item had been processed for delivery. I did not receive ANY further communication from JBhifi; on contacting the customer care team, I was told that I would receive the goods by 09 Feb 2021. It is now COB on 09 Feb 2021, and I have neither the goods nor an email to explain the status of my order! I paid a small fortune in good faith - the after-sales customer service is hopeless. I do understand that retailers rely on wholesalers to deliver goods; and the pandemic is being blamed for ongoing logistical issues. However, the transaction occurred between myself and JBhifi - at the very least, the retailer should UPDATE CUSTOMERS on the status of their orders, and explain any unforeseen delays. I am at the point where I wish to cancel my order and request a full refund. This is not good enough!

I was requested and gave a review on their web site. From feedback received it seems that all reviews are filtered which appear on their website and my review did not fit the criteria.I should have checked TP before buying from this company as these reviews are more accurate. Won’t use them again.

Jb-hi fi false price match guarantee

Reviewed on 2021-01-28T10:16:10

Jb-hi fi , likes to tell its customers if you find it cheaper else where we will refund the difference.Which is not the case. Amazon.com.au which is australian amazon sells beats headphones for $240 including delivery . But jb-hi fi at garden city will only price match to 269. Because they believe thats what the difference is for the delivery which is free. False advertisement from them. Super rude workers in store. Didn’t realise a whole team of people had to get involved in a price match. But in the end jb-hi lies about the price match guarantee, please be carefull people do your own research buy ahead. Its honestly not worth ur energy go anywhere else.
