Great user experience, easy to find the right flight
Kayak/ GetARoom Lack of Communication & Hotel change 11 hours before departure flight

This trip was much more stressful than it should’ve been, and that was due primarily to Kayak’s partner GetARoom’s overall communication to us on changes,and customer support to help resolve the issue. We were informed less than 12 hours before our departing flight that our reservation at the initial hotel I had reserved, the Sonesta Ft. Lauderdale, was overbooked and would need to contact customer service to resolve. After waiting on hold for over 30mins during my initial attempts to contact customer service, I replied with an email; to which I still received no response or confirmation for over an hour. At that point I contacted Kayak directly as this reservation was apparently booked with GetARoom via Kayak. When reaching a Kayak representative they finally connected me with a GetARoom representative. At that time I expressed my level of frustration and expectations for the alternative hotel that we would need to stay in. In doing so, I was then informed that GetARoom was actually notified of the overbooking on Tuesday (3/30), and yet we were still not even informed of this until Wednesday (3/31) at 7:17pm; less than 12 hours before our departing flight. When speaking to the representative I asked to be guaranteed at least an equal quality or better hotel, and some sort of discount due to the inconvenience. She informed me 2-3 times that I could choose not to accept the alternate hotel and receive a full refund. This is not acceptable as being the only resolution, especially since most airlines do not permit you to change flights within 24 hours, let alone less than 12 hours. At this time I requested to speak to a supervisor and was informed she was the highest member of authority and that was the best that could be done. After being on the phone and hold with her for over 89 minutes, we were finally confirmed our alternate reservations at the Hilton Ft. Lauderdale Marina, to which she stated no discount could be given because it was a nicer & more expensive hotel than the Sonesta. The entire reason we chose the Sonesta was due to an ocean view and location to entertainment & restaurants. Additionally, due to the location of our alternate hotel, we were forced to spend over $225 throughout the weekend in transportation that otherwise would not have been necessary. Furthermore, the “marina view” we received at the Hilton was nothing more than a balcony overlooking the hotel pool, and the ability to see a few boats. The quality of the Hilton, also, was less than desirable, and I have photos showing this. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience given the timing and lack of communication regarding changes to our reservation. Not only was I inconvenienced at the last minute and forced to scramble to secure a hotel, but it took time away that could’ve been spent with my family before leaving. Not only does this add to the already poor reviews GetARoom appears to have, but it also reflects very poorly for Kayak, to which I will also share my experience with them. I would hope after hearing about this experience and the additional costs we incurred due to location change that some sort of reimbursement/ discount can be applied to help remedy this.read more

Do not book!
I booked a car for 1 day, when i went to pick it up the car rental company didn’t haveany available cars and explained to me that they will continue making reservations for cars without knowing if these cars were available, after making me waste a lot of time i have been trying to cancel my reservation for over 2 hours and i am still trying to cancel without succed. DO NOT BOOK. Also their return policy is just a joke.read more

Like everyone else has said, you put you want to pick up a car at the airport and the pickup sites are 30 miles away,which you don't realize until you are there. Avoid using this site at all costs, if it seems like too good of a deal, it is. Terrible, I would put zero stars if I could.read more

Completely misleading website. It used Priceline to book a car rental in Fort Lauderdale when my search was specific to Miami Airport.Yes, I had a chance to confirm the reservation and I was in a hurry, but I never once searched for Fort Lauderdale OR chose nearby cities. I chose neighborhood locations as an option. Fort Lauderdale is NOT anywhere in the neighborhood of Miami Airport. They would not refund my money or change my reservation. Neither would Priceline. Neither would Sixt. Terrible companies and customer service all around. I've never had issues like this with Budget or Avis. UPDATE: Notice that Kayak responded by suggesting I reach out to customer service. These are exactly the folks who wouldn't help me... even their manager!read more

No zero available, or that's what I would've given. While I searched for a car rental at Orlando Airport,their site booked my car at a location 20 miles away. Yes, I was able to review, but had no idea the address was not at the airport. Ruined first day of our vacation by making us drive 50 miles roundtrip out of our way, a $55 taxi ride, and 2 hours waiting for the one Dollar rep with a waiting list of up to 8 parties. Finally got our rental and they weren't willing to change our dropoff to the airport, even when I showed them that I searched for the airport rentals. No customer service whatsoever!read more

Kayak allows you to be fooled by scam sites. I understand this is a search engine that helps find you the cheapest options,however, they should direct you to REAL reputable sites.
Under their recommendation, I booked a flight from LAX to LAS for $55 w/Frontier. It came to about $250 for two tickets and bags. Not bad. EXCEPT I WAS CHARGED $1,400 BY A COMPANY I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF!
Frontier has NO booking for me. The company I was sent to by Kayak was called FareScan. FareScan gives me the run around.
Both Kayak and FareScan have been less than helpful. Kayak will report they are a search engine that want to help you find and compare prices, but they should not send you, as the consumer, to SCAMS! Is there no customer care concern?
$1,400 is A LOT of money to me and I am not being helped at all.read more
