They rip you off with hidden charges and don't offer the most important features

Mailchimp deceptively advertises the features they offer. It is only something you find out after you sign up that you don't get everything you thought you were paying for. They say they give you automation on the essentials plan, but you actually don't really get it. All you get is the ability to send a single email response, which is the same as you get on the free plan. Even when you read the fine print on their features page, it doesn't say specifically what you get. They are intentionally opaque in this regard to get you to sign up.
They also have a really strange billing system that is designed in such a way that it sucks money out of you. Eg, I added a lot of subscribers but at the same time dropped to a lower plan since I didn't need everything on the higher plan. Their billing system makes changes to subscribers immediately but to billing plans a month later, so you end up having to pay a huge overage fee for sending out emails in that month you make a change. There's absolutely no sense in their doing it that way other than it being a way for them to make more money out of you.
They also only give you three separate mailing lists unless you want to pay more, then you get only five, which was not enough for my needs. It's a pain to put lists from different sites into the same mailing list as it causes confusion and problems.
Their customer service is also subpar and takes a long time to respond. And when they do respond they just say something like it's the policy, and that's it. They either don't want to help or because of the harsh policies their company has set, they cannot.read more

DONT even try to use their website…

DONT even try to use their website builder. Pathetic! I was trying to use their Classic website build (drag & drop elements)to create a single page as a landing page to my despoke software application. It was clunky but it worked Ok - was usable. Having spent a day playing with, Mailchimp moved me to their New Website Builder. I lost my day's work and could not go back to the old style website builder. The NEW Webstie builder is simply not working!!! You cant save your colour pallet, very limited options on layouts and placement of buttons, text. No more adjustable columns. A lot of the functionality from the old version has been lost and what they have is simply not working. Terrible. They can't compete with the likes of square space, Wix or any of the modern platforms. I've been using them for my email marketing campaigns and therefore decided to try the website builder but what a dissapointment. Their email builder isn't great but it's sort of OK but the website builder expereince - A total Waste of time.read more
Worst email software on the market - god knows why it's so popular
Reviewed on 2021-03-19T15:34:51
I've used many different email marketing platforms and MailChimp is the worst by a country mile.I'm having to use it because it's what my client uses, but it is the most terrible experience.
It's appropriate having "chimp" in the software's name, because the logic used to build this platform is certainly not human.
Full of bizarre restrictions and roadblocks, multiple ways to achive the same thing that are totally incompatible with each other, and totally counter-intuitive methods, it takes literally hours to accomplish simple tasks using MailChimp that other software can do in minutes.
Worst of all is the form builder. Or I should say "are" the form builderS. There are several of them. Delete a field on a form and it deletes it in the database. That's not good design. One of the form builders allows hidden fields, the others don't. Worst of all, the forms will only allow new users to complete them. If you want to use one to allow a user to change a field in the database, you're out of luck. MailChimp throws an error if you do that.
This software is badly designed, overblown, difficult to use and horrible to look at. It's the worst.read more

Customer services is nonexistent

Customer services is nonexistent. I had issues with billing and they basically told me they cannot refund me.I had recently cleared out thousands of emails and was billed incorrectly. They rather me pay for a service that I did not need then have integrity in keeping a customer. I have never needed to reach out to customer service as I go about my business but now I know that if I ever need help, there won't be any. Yikes!read more
