Full of gatekeeping mindless sheep who are obsessed with keeping fma brotherhood at number 1 when itsactually an average anime and they will stop at nothing to try to secure this at number 1 indefinitely. And the mods are just as bad . Its like a dictatorship

Aside from a subpar moderation team,
MyAnimeList has been my go-to anime database site for the pastfew years and I absolutely adore the UI and the community to the point that I am subscribed as a MALSupporter. Mainly did that to also get a larger slot for favorite anime.
The community is fantastic, everyone is nice and welcoming but the moderation team is not the best, they have slow response times and occasional site malfunctions. The community moderators however, are fun to chat with and are generally nice people.
I also adore the ability to customize your anime list viewing page with simple BB coding and HTML knowledge. Or simply scrap templates off publicly available ones from the community.
Overall, MAL is a great site to use for looking up or getting recommendations as well as recording down your anime however, there are probably other sites that do it better and don't require premium to make the most of it.

I know I am biased and I do not like generalizing because anime fans I saw in real life were mostly sane people without any issues what I know.But what comes to the internet is cancer. There is not so much blind elitism in mainstream Hollywood HBO or Netflix series. I confess I sometimes watched mostly older anime old about 2 decades ago but still something older and newer and often neither watched it completely. Moderators please, describe the animes by their real japanese genres rather instead of American rating (PG, G or whatever) because it is often out of place. But the people... Overanalyzing animes like adventure shounens, harems and romantic comedies but then many reviewers trashing Evangelion? That is funny, seriously. 3 stars would be fair but I do not wanna.

The first thing you must be aware of with this site is that the person/persons that decide if your reviews are posted have a liking to a certain type of anime,so there opinion is above yours. For example if you like an show/movie and give it a 10 but they believe it's a 4, your review will not be accepted, if you give it a slightly lower rating like a 9 or 8 it will be decided on the amount of other people who have given this same score (if there are many, your score will be deleted) even if you have given many great points of view to how you have come to this decision. A couple people have complained about this on there forum but have quickly been deleted or banned from posting. there are some anime that the reviews have been keep going and can be trusted on however i wouldn't read some of the reviews as they do give some spoilers and sometimes even give away the whole entire plot. my opinion if you was to use this site for a vague idea on what to watch next is stick with those rated around 6.2 - 8.3 these are usually the best ones.
any anime that is incredibly popular like Naruto, Danmachi, Konosuba, Black Clover and Kimetsu no Yaiba basically all the most popular anime in the world are grossly underrated here due to them deleting reviews because it's not what they like. anything over 9.0 i can 98% tell you it's a lie same with anything under 4.0, I hope this has help people make use of this site is you must use it. I personally use GoGoAnime.io
