Refer-A-Friend program is a hoax

Does not charge to automatically download transactions into Quicken Direct Connect like many other banks do.But do no fall for their Refer-A-Fiend promotion. Opened account nine months ago and neither our friend or us have received the gift card, Called Rewards program and now they said the officer that opened the account did not register us for the program even when we have the email proof we were registered. For me this is called FALSE ADVERTISEMENT!

Poorly maintained ATM machine

Poorly maintained ATM machine. Regions Bank has closed all branches in Valdosta Georgia except one in the very north east area with one ATM on St Augustine rd in the south west area.The only open branch is very inconvenient to 1/2 of the county. This only ATM is frequently out of order & has not been accepting deposits for the last 5 days. I've wasted multiple trips for nothing. You would think proper operating ATMs would be as important as keeping the lights on in the bank. I will change banks before wasting time & gas to drive through hectic traffic to make a deposit like we were still living in the 20th century. UPDATE: Someone from Regions must have seen this review. They have repaired the ATM & I was finally able to make a Deposit. I gave them 2 more stars for the ATM repair.

If you personally enjoy recurring experiences with financial stress -- or, the chronic suspicion that something is going unexpectedly wrong with your accounts,to a point where you are anxiously checking it multiple times a day -- look no farther than Regions Financial Corps. After 3+ years of banking with Regions, I can confidently say that this bank makes no attempts to hide the fact that they profit off of your human error. This is made obvious not only by an intense lack of forgiveness/compromise in the face of errors that are ACTUALLY your fault, but also, errors made on the banks behalf that will skillfully be misconstrued to be a fault of your own, just as well. Be prepared to check every task you ask an agent to complete for you twice or more. The moment you decide to get comfortable, trust what they say, and take as little as 24 hours to refrain from analyzing your account, will be the same moment that you will rack in $100+ in unexplained fees, most likely resulting from a conflict you were manipulated to believe had been resolved entirely. For example: I have requested and PAID to place a stop payment for a charge on my account. This fee, months later, STILL comes out of my account. This results in overdraft fees that QUICKLY add up, and transactions are (almost strategically, so it seems) pulled from largest to smallest in monetary value, so that more of these fees can be "justly" charged at you -- the client's -- LITERAL expense. This is when you would like to believe that customer service is here to help you, but, like close to any other commercial bank, your customer service consists of call center agents who don't get paid enough to give any amount of excrement about your issues. The second you know you may need to call Regions to resolve an issue, you are better off paying your fees (whether or not it was truly YOU who caused them to happen), instead of putting in a tiring amount of emotionally energy, only to be repeatedly told that you cannot be helped whatsoever. As somewhat of a broke man myself, that's not something I naturally recommend. It is just genuinely THAT hopeless to try, with this bank. Expect to be coerced into signing up for bonuses that are not fully and concisely explained to you, and then, when this truly screws you over, be told that it's your fault for not asking the right questions, or reading every bit of fine print. Expect to have programs you opt in/out explained to you in such a way that vital pieces of information are either grossly misrepresented, perhaps even left out entirely, resulting in further charges you cannot afford to begin with. Expect any attempt you make to fight these things, to be met with callous apathy, patronizingly fake empathy, or a straight-up argument before you even fully explain the situation. Lastly, if you have been forgiven for one single fee, expect that these agents will never, ever, EVER, forget this, and throw it up in your face every time you're hit with another -- no matter if the transaction is evidently fraudulent or unauthorized. Whether or not you agree that such complaints are a result of personal irresponsibility, and no responsibility on the bank's behalf, the BOTTOM LINE is this -- Regions seeks to profit off of its clientel. Whether you can't keep up with your balance, you're a victim of fraud, the bank is making errors, whatever your issue may be, you can anticipate that Regions Bank responds to these things by quickly pulling funds out of your account with almost certain giddiness. You can just as equally anticipate, regardless of your situation, that getting that money refunded back to you will be met with obnoxious hesitancy, and an attitude that leaves you feeling inconvenient for reaching out. In this horrible state of existence within my country (U.S.), no person deserves a banking experience that leaves them feeling so hopeless, anxious, defeated, and mostly, USED -- all words I would absolutely use to describe my experience with this bank, myself. Money is no thing to so eagerly meddle with, and I am fortunate enough that this did not wind up costing me my ability to meet my most basic human needs. Others I have read have not been so lucky, and my condolences are with those shamefully unfortunate people. It has, however, caused quite a bit of mistrust, resentment, and chronic muscle tension on my end, though. I am, quite honestly, exhausted, with this predatory financial corporation. If you relate to my review, just know that I hear you 100%. Do yourself a favor and open an account with a credit union or likewise that is not so annoyingly committed to making your financial life as beneficial to THEM, and not you -- the person they are supposed to be making banking easy and safe for. I will be doing this myself, ASAP.
