Wealth Simple is a great opportunity to control your own investments, or have someone there handle your portfolio for you.I handle my own, and find that it is a great freedom. It is, also, a learning experience. They do not tell you where to, or where not to, invest. But, they do tell you not to invest anything that you cannot afford to lose. The stocks are not guaranteed money makers. One needs to research and use their gut feelings of when to buy and sell. Somethings work out, some don't. I would definitely suggest it to anyone looking to lower costs of investing, or who wish to handle their own investments. But, as they state 'Make sure any money you are investing is an amount you feel comfortable if the stocks crash. Do your research before investing.'

March 31 PGZ.V closed at 1.04% increase!!......yet on my wealthsimple portfolio...it showed that amount in the negative....Not impressed! Today is April Fools day...and i do feel foolish as my account opened with that loss!!!! So wheres my cash wealthsimple?? . It should of opened at about 39200....not 38400!!!!. How the hell can i support u guys when trust is being destroyed? How can i make a snap buy/sell decision when i cannot trust you...FIX THIS!!!!. UPDATE: April 2/21...no fix yet and they have the report!! UPDATE: April 4/21...no fix yet....is this theft?? UPDATE: April 5/21 still missing 800 dollars....AND...sold all PGZ.V shares today at 10% gain but only recieved 7.5% gain.....yet still showing 10% gain on stock board.....you guys are in for one hell of fight!!!!

WealthSimple Needs to Take Responsibility

I am a WealthSimple client and My wife and I have a pretty awful experience.
My wife and I transferredstocks into WealthSimple and indicated on the transfer form that they were to be transferred in in-kind (leave them as they are). They were transferred in-kind, but then without my approval WealthSimple sold the stocks and put the proceeds into their funds (which they make money on, whereas with stocks they don’t make money).
I’ve contacted WealthSimple almost a half a dozen times about this and they won’t even respond to my requests to correct the incorrect trade. In the meantime the stocks have gone up in value and the WealthSimple investments have been flat so I’ve lost out on thousands of dollars.
I used to be an IIROC advisor so I know they’re required to get approval for me for any unusual trades, and they’re required to reverse this trade and make me whole for the lost gains.
They won’t even respond to my customer service requests or emails to their compliance department.
UPDATE: they replied only after I filed a complaint with IIROC (the regulatory body) and it was basically, “Too bad so sad, you should have read the fine print.”
The fine print, and their status as a discretionary portfolio manager allows them to legally do what they did. But they also have a legal responsibility to clients to make paperwork easy to understand, and in cases of uncertainty get trades approved. When their transfer paperwork has a headline that says TRANSFER ALL ASSETS IN-KIND then in the fine print it says that they’ll sell your securities, that’s unclear what a customer is agreeing to.
Their lack of response at the outset, and their refusal to accept any responsibility for poor paperwork causes me to have the opinion that their management is not operating in the best interest of clients; very few financial institutions really are, but at least major financial institutions compliance department will side with a customer in times of doubt.

AVOID Using Wealthsimple until they fix their platform

I don’t know even where to begin.
The desktop version of their trading app is broken.I understand that all quotes and info are 15 minutes delayed like in the mobile app. However, that is the tip of the iceberg in terms of how unintuitive the desktop version is, and straight-up buggy.
There are times where it won’t display how much money you have, how would I even know how much I can buy if that is the case? There are cases where it will show me stocks I've already sold. Sometimes the program straight up doesn’t allow you to buy or sell your stocks and throws error messages. How can ANYONE trade like this, and how is this a problem that exists for a program that handles other people’s money? I’ve never had this problem before with anything else.
I’ve lost money in trades before, but if I'm losing money on a trade, it should be because of me, and my decision. It shouldn't be decided by technical errors or bugs.
I’ve been calling for weeks about issues about the inability to trade some of my stocks. I’ve lost SO MUCH money because of this, and still, no one picks up the phone. What makes it worse is that after waiting long periods of time, I will get hung up. All I want is to speak to someone and get my money back.
I warn any ANY user right now if you use Wealthsimple. You run the risk of being unable to buy or sell your stocks, especially anything that is very active. I can’t speak for the mobile app, but the desktop version is a buggy mess, and from what I’m seeing, I’m not the only person that has been affected by this.
Wealthsimple if you are reading this. I really hope you guys get your act together because errors like these are costing a lot of your customers time and money. Also, get more CSRs, it seems to be echoed here, and everywhere else. How can we get help, if we cannot even reach you? How can we even trust you to help us, if we cannot reach you?!

Total garbage do NOT invest with these clowns they hold your funds for 2 weeks after depositing I hadto get my bank to reverse the transfer and then WealthSimple sent me a email stating there would be a "sur charge" unless I re contacted my bank and them make the deposit.
Total schmucks also their platform only allows you to invest in BTC and ETH if you're interested in crypto.
STAY AWAY, far better platforms out there.
