Don't Count on Alessi for Help

When I first phoned Alessi USA Customer Service, I spoke with James Soder who seemed understanding and empathetic.I had turned on the wrong burner and scorched my partner's empty kettle [Michael Graves 9083--I had told him 9093 but later corrected it], melted the bird and the plastic cap. While the instructions suggested this ruined the kettle and couldn't be fixed, a YouTube video of an Alessi executive suggested the opposite. I asked Mr. Soder if I had to replace the kettle or, if not, how to clear up the discoloration of the base and interior and I would order replacement bird and cap. He asked me to send photos which I did. After several phone voicemails and emails to him including the suggestion I would negatively review should I not get an answer, I have still not heard back. It has been several weeks now. I thought my questions were pretty basic and was willing to either replace parts or the kettle. My experience with Customer Service which started out as positive have spiraled down to extreme disappointment.read more

Ordered a set of Edo pans and matching frying pan. Very happy with products, price and delivery.I was a bit apprehensive after reading other reviews but I had no trouble. Ordered on Monday, shipped from their warehouse in Italy on Tuesday and delivered in UK as scheduled following Tuesday. Fully tracked shipping included in price, and no issues with import duties etc.read more

Absolutely abysmal customer support

Absolutely abysmal customer support. I cancelled an order due to the delivery taking far too (over a week,with no delivery notification or explanation for the delay). Customer Support failed to acknowledge my cancellation request, nor any of the follow up emails asking them to confirm they had received the cancellation, until they then notified me the item was on it's way a week later. I was then told I had to send the item back to them to get a refund. They eventually acknowledged I am entitled to a refund and that they sent the item in error, but they still haven't processed this refund weeks later. Last time I purchase anything from them, what a shame.read more

Kitchen full of Alessi! Love the products! Well thought out unique designs, very durable,get compliments frequently, and will likely continue to turn to Alessi mostly for anything table/glass wear. The only complaint I would have is maybe the shipping. Despite free shipping being offered on returns due to some confusion I have had to pay and have read they will return paid shipping back but I just never fussed over it. So it may take a while for them to pick up the package (I started to worry about the 14 day or whatever return policy) but someone did show up after I’d already sent the package. I’ll admit some things such as ex: coffee cups maybe over priced but Alessi has withstood these clumsy hands better than the ikea dinner wear my husband purchased. Thankfully that’s gone now. You pay more upfront but expect a much longer life!!read more

Alessi is a quality brand - Alessi UK is ruining that

DON'T: Order from Alessi UK, not even if it's cheaper because there's a discount. It's not worth trying to save a little money in this case.Trust me.
DO: Use Alessi UK's 'Store Locator' to find a genuine reseller of their products, local to you, and order from the reseller instead (even if it'll take a bit longer). That way it's up to your local shop to deal with Alessi, and you have a face-to-face contact should you require customer service (e.g. if you wish to return an item, ask any questions, etc.).
IF: (despite mine and all these other warnings) you do order from Alessi UK, then pay with PayPal in case you ever have problems contacting them and/or getting a refund.
From what I've read, my experience wasn't as bad as other peoples' on this site, but it was terrible for what you expect from a brand like Alessi.
26/11/2020 - I ordered from Alessi UK because of Black Friday sales and I thought it would be quicker and better because of Covid19.
30/11/2020 - Item Dispatched.
03/12/2020 - DHL delivers item to incorrect address (despite being tracked and signed). I contact Alessi using the online contact form (no response). FYI their phone number didn't work.

08/12/2020 - I email help@alessi (no response).
09/12/2020 - I finally get a response from alessi.uk@alessi telling me my order number was associated with an order back in August, so I had to send proof of my order.
18/12/2020 - After a slow back and forth, Alessi contacting DHL and getting no response, they assume the package is lost and agree to refund me. This would not be such a problem had I not read about issues with Alessi deliveries through DHL before. Clearly a longer-term solution is needed.
To be clear - I am not saying that the Alessi brand is bad as a whole, in fact I'm very happy with the Alessi product that I eventually managed to get!
What I am saying is that Alessi UK is tarnishing a good brand as it is a clearly badly managed branch of the company. They seriously need to improve the quality of their website and customer service to better reflect the quality of their products.
Alessi UK needs to:
• Fix their phone number so that customers can call it and someone will answer.
• Give each order a unique order number to avoid duplicates on their system.
• Add a 'Refund' section to the website. Currently there is only a 'Return' option, which obviously doesn't apply to those who don't receive their package.
• Have someone reply to all email addresses, or make it clear which one you should use if you're only going to respond to one. And responses within 1 working day would be ideal.
• Use an alternative courier service, or have a serious word with DHL. Clearly there is some level of incompetence on their end if they mess up deliveries that are both tracked & signed. If expensive products are being 'lost' regularly then clearly DHL isn't good enough.
Until Alessi UK either cleans up their act, save your time and go through a reseller. The reseller can put their money down first and deal with the problems (should any arise), but you'll never know about it since you won't be the one dealing with it, and you'll only pay once you have the product in front of you.read more
