An unscrupulous bank with seemingly no ethics or observation of protocol particularly in their conduct towards British customers.
After 13 years of holding a fee paying current account,a large transfer from my UK bank failed to be credited to my account with Sabadell. I found out too late that my account had been blocked two weeks prior to the transfer but received no warning or notification of this.
I was fortunate, my money was returned but sadly this is not the case for many expats whose funds have been illegally and indefinitely retained. The scale of this new 'policy' was disclosed to me by my UK bank this morning by an agent who told me that they are constantly having to recall and retrieve money being held by Sabadell which never finds its way to clients' accounts. No other country in Europe is behaving in this manner.
I do recommend that expats in Spain check that there is no block on their recipient account before making a transfer and also request a confirmation email of their transaction.read more

Wasted a month of my life trying to open a basic account (which I would have needed to buy insurance for to keep it "free").I was told that further checks needed to be made since I'm from Malta (an EU country) to make sure I'm "not a criminal". I kept getting asked to provide a ridiculous amount of documentation until, finally, I was refused the account altogether. I asked for the reasons why but I never heard back. I then opened a free BBVA account in less than a week.read more

They are incredibly, mindbendingly useless. The app and internet bank are among the worst I´ve ever seen.But even worse is the customer service (or lack thereof), I keep chasing and chasing and chasing and nobody ever gets back to you. They dodge meeting requests and don´t pick up the phone. It´s Soviet level of customer service. I´m looking to change now to a bank that knows what they are doing.read more

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that this bank along with a few others are gradually slipping back to their old greedy,money grabbing pre 2008 banking crash behaviour. Over the last few years the service from this bank has got much worse and then to add insult to injury they suddenly slap on a hefty quarterly account service charge, which they recently increased yet again!
If anyone can recommend an ethical, efficient Spanish Bank that I could switch to, I would appreciate the information.read more

In the case of direct debits and deposits (we were told by our contact person - I don't want to name the incompetent lady a bank advisor)no emails are sent. Since we have an account with another Spanish bank, we can compare the service very well.
The online presence is pathetic, as if it were programmed by a 7 year old who completed 2 hours of programming.
The app is awful. For example, you cannot have an email confirmation sent to you for international transfers. Credit card movements are from June of last year. Here alone I have a list of 27 points where the app is incredibly bad.
Our contact person behaves like a 5-year-old child. If she doesn't know her way around and doesn't know the answer, she simply doesn't write back - despite multiple inquiries. Perhaps you can see that as an increase, because beforehand she simply provided incorrect statements and never corrected them or apologized for them.
We shut down the account completely and are only using it for the credit card - and that works very poorly too.
Our advice: to avoid this bank very, very wide. This is a collection of prepotent and completely incompetent ignoramuses.read more

DO NOT USE THIS BANK, Been with these lot for two years and they are without doubt the worst i have ever dealt with,The staff havent a clue what they are doing,They act like they are doing you a favour even giving you access to your own money or when they see you at the counter, the ques to get into the bank are horrendous and that was long before covid. i am on my third debit card and each time the card goes wrong they make me wait 10 days to get another and last time i waited an hour to be seen before being told the card wasnt there and i would have to come back another time and tough titty.They charge me 40 euros every three months for the privilage, im shutting my account with these jokers but cant actually get through to tell them because the line is to busy they cut you off telling you to call back another time,read more

I am traveling a lot around the world and unfortunately I ended up with an account with Sabadell bank.
Please do not do the same mistake as me,stay far away.
It is by far the worst bank I ever have been using.
High rates, non existing customers service, Rude employees in the bank. The list is long.
Just save yourself the headache, stay away.
I recommend everyone to use WISE, if you care about expenses and service.read more
