Couchsurfin used to be a terrific idea about sharing, welcoming and bein welcome. As (too)many such initiatives it went down the drain the day it was sold to become a for-profit organization. The last straw was for the "owners" to block, without any warning, all the "member's" profiles to racket them into "saving C$". A treacherous and fatal move towards the death of this beautiful dream.
Many members are now deleting their profile and moving to a new welcoming hive : BeWelcome !

The fact that there is no money make it worth a lot !

Couchsurfing is a great idea: don't waste money in hotels, much better meeting locals who can show youthe real life of a city.
I hosted and met many people from all over the world and always had a great time sharing different experiences: by chatting and sipping a coffee you can understand a lot about a different culture.
Unfortunately in the last years CS has been experiencing many technical problems and became quite confused. Not to mention about the mobile version - almost impossible to browse.
Anyway CS is still a great project!

Such a very good idea and it's work very well.
It's a website which make connection between travelers and local people,for sharing culture, discovering real local places, and just meet news people.
That's just simple human relationship.
I am a CS member since a couple of years, I used it in various countries and I always kept a good memories and I trust in people I met.
