What does Project Drawdown do?

Project Drawdown is bringing together a broad coalition of researchers, scientists, NGOs, and universities to assemble the best available information on 100 of the most impactful climate solutions. The overriding goal is to determine when society can achieve drawdown, a year-to-year reduction in greenhouse gases by employing existing solutions and technologies. This comprehensive range of solutions include: technological solutions, such as renewable energy and energy efficiency measures; social solutions that require behavior change, like lowering consumption of material goods and boosting reproductive rights; and ecological solutions that restore carbon in soils and plants by bio-sequestering CO2. The list represents "no regrets" initiatives — solutions that should be implemented whether or not the threat of climate change existed. These are solutions that have cascading benefits, positive cycles of multiplying effects that improve lives, restore the environment, and mitigate climate change. Central to the success of this project are our coalition members who help research, program, communicate, disseminate, and leverage our research across the world. It is the bedrock on which Project Drawdown is possible. Working with over 200 scholars, students, and organizations, this project represents the collaborative input of researchers, professionals, students, and future changemakers from across the globe.
