Be aware! Very bad experience

The sales agent (Belén Leon) of Engel & Volkers lied to rent a flat to us. She presented a flat with access to a terras,which turned out to be a flat without access to a terras. When I addressed the issues, she first tried to get rid of me by telling me it was something that I would need to arrange between me and the owners. Which I did, but it didn't result in a solution. I then pointed out to the sales agent that it was her who rented me the flat and who gave me the wrong information. I told her that I didn't want the flat without access to the terrace for the price that we agreed on. The owners of the flat were not being difficult, as they surely realised that this was not the correct way to rent a flat (they were present during the visit in which I was misinformed, and probably they had some suspicion about what the sales agent had told me). The owners quickly proposed to break the contract without making any problems.  I informed the sales agent about what the owners proposed and told her that in this case I would demand my money back (referring to the agency fees of 1089 euro that I paid to Engel & Volkers). The sales agent didn't want to agree with this, but suddenly, she seemed more willing to find a solution. Within an hour she came back to me, saying she would pass-by to give me the keys the next week. Unfortunately this seemed merely an attempt to stall time. The week after, she came back to me saying that I won't have the keys after all. Moreover, she now seemed well prepared to make it clear to me that if the contract will be broken, I won't receive back the agency fees. She was saying that she never told me that we would have access to the terrace. She said it was her word against mine (even though she made the statement in front of 2 other witnesses, apart from the 2 owners present). Without any shame, she told me that I was lying. When I consequently asked to speak to the manager, she told me that if I am not happy, I can address my complaint  to the director of Engel & Volkers. She didn't seem to be concerned about this, whatsoever. She quickly passed me the contact of Luis Martinez (who turns out NOT to be the director, but a team leader).  When I called him, I got a very slick guy on the phone who immediately started to express himself as if he was a lawyer. I told him that I paid a lot of money to be his client, so I was expecting a less hostile approach when addressing a complaint. I expressed that I would atleast expected him to take my complaint seriously and that he would be on my side as a client, atleast until he looked into the matter objectively. However, to the contrary, he continued to try and outsmart me with ridiculous arguments about how they were right, and how I was wrong. When this didn't seem to have the desired effect, he used the exact same words as the sales agent, saying that it was her word against mine (discarding the witnesses). He told me that unless I have written proof or a video in which the sales agent states we have access to the terrace, he cannot do anything for me. His choice of words, clearly indicated that the sales agent had already informed him and that it was him who instructed her what to do (stall time) and what to tell me (cold hard deny everything). I consequently told Luis Martinez that if they wouldn't offer me any kind of solution, and consequently there would be no other option than to break the contract, I expected them to pay me back the agency fees. Because simply, they rented me a flat under false pretences and if the contract will be broken due to this, they didn't provide the service that I paid them for. To my big chock, this manager at Engel & Volkers then repeatedly started to deny that I had paid them anything! He stated; which money? You didn't pay me anything! When I told him that I paid by bank transfer and that the payment couldn't be denied, he told me: well you didn't pay it to me and I have nothing else to discuss with you. That was the end of it. So here I am, a family with 2 children, in a flat on terms that I didn't agree on. The moving truck with all our stuff has already arrived (so more money lost if we leave), on top of the agency fees lost.  So to summarize, I would not recommend Engel & Volkers. To me, they seem cold hearted and trained to scam people. That this is not just an incident and bad behaviour of just some bad employees, is confirmed by the other experiences that I read here. I wish I would have checked reviews before going into business with Engel & Volkers, but like many others, I trusted their name and didn't expect to be scammed by a well known company that operates in the luxury sector under a German name. Clearly this is misleading, as there is nothing German about this company whatsoever. Their business ethnic is not German and looking at their website (Engels & Volkers Valencia), none of the owners or employees are German.

Beware of these sharks in Valencia, Spain. They knowingly work with landlords who do not return deposits.I have asked them many times not to re-advertise the flat where the owner (and thief) owes us EUR4k deposit yet they insist on doing so. AVOID THEM

When the Engel & Völkers agent advertised the house for sale to us, she presented to us a sellingbrochure which had grossly inaccurate measurements - significantly larger property lot and house areas than it was later confirmed in official documents. When we questioned why such wrong numbers were put in their sales brochure, we never received a straightforward, transparent answer from E&V. It was very bad experience for us dealing with this real estate agency.

No service and 6,000 Euros paid to upset me for 3 months

We recently bought a house and paid the Valencia office 6,000 Euros as both parties contribute towards estate agent fees in the region (in addition to solicitor and notary fees).We found the house on an English website , and used this Global company in preference to the highly rated local estate agent . We incorrectly thought they would be more professional and trustworthy as they had a brand to protect and in the long run it would be money well spent. I should of realised there were problems with the shoddy standard of the contract , I should of realised when they kept forgetting major points from our week long negotiation . And when I complained , I was told it was not their job ( in writing ) .The regional manager got involved and offered to put the problems right, and then changed his mind when the sale was complete. ( weeks of daily negotiating by email simply ignored when the sale was complete ) I have a mile long string of emails with the Valencia office that are legally binding , after a lot of frustration , we decided not to get into a long drawn out court battle in a country where estate agents are not regulated . The house has damp and other problems that were not discovered until after the sale and I’m told we paid over the market value . They keep saying their fee was only to find me a house, but I found it on Rightmove. I paid them to make sure the sale went smoothly , and it was a nail biting , horrible experience from start to finish. My dream of a house in Spain feels over,I honestly just want to forget about it and move on. Every time I have to deal with it, it reminds me I allowed myself to be talked over and I feel really rather stupid for trusting Engel& Volks to keep their word when I could of trusted the local estate agents. And now, despite writing 5 emails to their Head Office teams. They simply ignore my emails which would be impossible if the estate agents in Spain were regulated .

Negotiations Bottom Fell Out

Hello, we hired your company to do our listing. I believe our agent presented herself in a professional manner.We lost the sale of our home, because both the buyer's agent and seller's agent lacked any experience in intense negotiations. I had to constantly remind my agent to send me contract papers. One thing else for all agents entering the market. Texting is fine, but when it comes to any home, please remember to call first and explain offers in detail and then text the message for the buyers or sellers records. Next time I want an agent that knows all about tough negotiations and knows how to close the deal. I am looking for someone who has fire in their belly to please me and work hard for me and to close the deal.

Very bad experience with office Alicante, they told us that our property was sold 3 months ago and all the time they told us other stories why the new owner not signed yet .Today they called friend of us to say the new owners don’t buy and pay them the deposit back ?very very bad and onprofessional for company like this
