Beware of “cancellation” fee scam

I booked a cab using Gett. The driver arrived and asked if I would pay him directly rather than using the app.I was OK with that - up to the driver in my book. Gett have charged be a £5 cancellation fee (though I paid the driver in excess of £90 for the fare). I have contacted Gett on their app. Currently no response. This feels like a scam. However, after this review Gett got in touch and refunded the money. So they have redeemed themselves, well done.

When it's 6AM,you are finishing long and hard nightshift and want a taxi home, you need a taxi,not a random "there is unusual activity on your account, please email..." prompt.
"Please email" eh. I'm sure you'd reply instantly.
Want hassle - get Gett. Want a taxi - get another company.
And dear Gett, if you are going to reply with some canned explanation, don't bother please. I wasn't looking for an explanation, I was looking for a taxi believe it or not. A taxi for my usual work-home route, paying with my usual card.
UPDATE AFTER RESPONSE FROM GETT:
You are asking for the details of the ride. What ride? The one I couldn't book because you suddenly decided that there was "unusual activity" on my account?
And how is that supposed to help the fact that I didn't get that taxi home after my nightshift?
I'm sorry but I'll be damned if I rely on you again, when I decide I need a taxi, it means that I need a taxi, not an invitation to waste my time to converse with you via email.

Company now cuts standards

I've been using GETT for about 4 years and until recently they were a 5 star Black Cab firm.Recently in Coventry they have started using mini cab drivers. They aren't decent minicab drivers. They are the incompetent Uber variety. I complained through the app but GETT ignored my complaint. Time to go back to phoning local cab firms.

I was charged a 60% surcharge (extra £6 on a £10 ride) due to 'High Demand' by Gett this morning .Gett explained that firstly the fee is for the driver making 'extra effort' during high demand, Gett then replied the fee is not passed directly onto drivers but for drivers Premiums and for Gett advanced technology in matching drivers to passengers . i have now decided to use a different taxi app that doesn't surcharge during peak times

Charged for waiting for the taxi to arrive

I was waiting for the taxi which had not moved on the App for over ten minutes even though it said the cab would be with me in less than 5!!it then resets the timer and says it will be 15 minutes by which time i could not wait any longer so i cancelled the journey, i then get charged £5. I've tried to contact the customer service team but the app is just blank, utter rubbish. I have no way of contacting these cowboys.

I booked a taxi for Thursday 11th March.
this was to take me to Charing Cross Hospital for a Urologyappointment
The taxi arrivd on time,as soon as I got in the taxi driver said it was an estimated ride of 26 minutes.
The driver said he had a machine which told him areas too avoid.
Off we went, the driver must have found every temporary roadworks and temporary traffic light's.
the journey took 55 minutes, giving me 6 minutes to get to the Hospital Urology department.
Being a Urology appointment I was very frightened that I mght have an accident.
When I booked the appointment the estimated fare was £17.25 at the end of that awful journey I was charged £43.26.
Going home I hailed a taxi which took 20 minutes, it cost £ 21.60 that was including a tip.
Taking the same journey home on 25th February again I hailed a taxi myself, it cost 18.80, the pleasant driver didn't want a tip.
I sent feedback to Gett, no surprise they have not responded.

Appalling Cost

I was appalled with the cost of my taxi trip in Manchester this evening. I was charged an £46 for a 20 minute taxi trip this evening,after being quoted £22-32 online for the trip. The taxi driver was conveniently unable to inform me of the actual price until well into the journey, and he attributed the extortionate price to the late time (8PM) and the need to pay to access a car park to collect me. I might add that I took the exact same trip very recently at 12AM with an Uber and was charged £29. I will certainly be avoiding Gett at all cost and using Uber instead in the future and would encourage anyone else to do the same.

I usually book my taxi for when I go to work or finish work and it been usually really good.But when I booked taxi for Sunday the 17th for when I finished work for 6.05pm I was stood outside work for half an a hour. It usually comes really early so that’s why I booked it for 6.05. It was very cold and miserable and there was nobody around becuase off all the other shops where closed.
Probley a good thing I wasn’t going to work as I would off been very late for my shift.
Taxi finally arrive at 6.35pm
