Had an issue with my device

Reviewed on 2021-05-19T06:46:54

Had an issue with my device. Spoke to customer service over 5 times. Still haven't resolved my issue. They asked me to send my phone back. They received it three weeks ago. I am without a device and their representative constantly hang up. Terrible customer service. Would I recommend them? Absolutely not. Their coverage is not even great. I constantly get messages from friends, co-workers, and family, on discord and teams letting me know that they have been trying to reach me.

Worthless Customer Service

Reviewed on 2021-05-15T23:21:54

We had an issue, where one of our phone numbers was "accidentally" paused (happened on G's end),they would not help us recover it. We tried the online chat and calling multiple times, but every time G said the number was attached to a different email account. My husband has had this number for 20 years and brought it to GFi a couple years ago, it is not attached to a different email. Also, every time we were on a phone call the rep would say "I'll put you on a brief hold" then disconnect and not get back in touch, even though we gave the rep an alternate number at which to reach us. To make matters worse, G is now charging us for service we have not had for over a week. TL;DR GFi has terrible customer service and will do whatever they can to ignore you. The mediocre phone service is not worth it.

Google Fi is an incompetent, predatory company in my opinion

Reviewed on 2021-05-09T18:08:12

Whoa! I've had a few really bad customer service experiences, but this was so subpar that I want to share it in the event that it spares someone else from the same treatment.I placed an order for a Google Pixel 4a 5G with Google Fi service on 4/28/21. The estimated arrival was 5/1/21. The phone apparently got lost in a FedEx delivery center, but was finally delivered on 5/6/21. Upon arrival, I opened and attempted to activate. The phone was not able to connect to the network, so I attempted to contact customer service. I tried to get a call back from Google on my home phone, but that didn’t happen quickly. After 10 minutes, I contacted Google Fi via chat. The CSR informed me that there was a problem porting the number over from my old carrier, but we could fix it if we did some troubleshooting. First, I needed to contact my current carrier to get an account number and PIN. So, I did that, and my current carrier stopped my service, then provided the necessary information. However, there was still no service on the new Google Pixel phone, so we went through some additional steps. While I cannot detail all of those steps, I can tell you that we spent approximately 2 hours trying to get the phone set up over chat. Ultimately, we were unable to get any service set up other than data (no voice or text). At that point, I told the customer service representative that we were out of time, and arranged for an authorization to return the phone. The RMA was sent via email, and I boxed the phone up. I called my current cellular company and they reinstated my service. However, they could not do that with my current SIM Card, so arranged to send me a new one. I did receive a call back from another CSR at approximately 3PM on 5/6/2021. After explaining the situation, he looked at my account and told me that there was some kind of technical issue on their end, and he would look into it. However, I had already boxed the phone up, and told him that I would not be joining Google Fi. I asked him if he could give me some payment for the time I had spent trying to solve their problems but all he could do was give me a$15 credit on my bill. Since we had not successfully set up the service, there wasn’t going to be a bill, so that wasn’t any help. In the end, I got no service, and spent hours with customer service representatives that did not understand how to actually identify issues that are interfering with their ability to provide service. Strangely, that’s not where the story ends. On 5-9-21, I received an email with a bill from Google for $20. The bill is for service. However, they never actually provided service. This is one for the credit card companies and the State’s consumer protection division at this point. If this helps someone else to avoid dealing with Google Fi, maybe this was all worth it.

What a nightmare

Reviewed on 2021-04-29T12:29:10

What a nightmare. My new phone went haywire and needs to be replaced. They sent the replacement to thewrong address and now here I still sit two weeks later while they try to find that phone somewhere in the universe. I get emails that say it will take three days for information, then another 3 days and no offer to send another replacement or credit my account. They are all in another country and it’s possibly the worst customer service I have ever experienced...and I’m old.

DO NOT EVEN ENTERTAIN THE IDEA OF…

Reviewed on 2021-04-19T00:29:22

DO NOT EVEN ENTERTAIN THE IDEA OF JOINING GOOGLE FI. Their customer support is a hodgepodge of miserable human beings who give absolutely zero sh*ts about actually helping you.I changed from Verizon, signed up for a promotion for a half price phone and $35 unlimited data for the first three months on this new service, but as I was being assisted by google fi customer support online to transfer my phone number it was assigned to a line that was not the one I signed up for google fi for. So I did not have a working phone number for days; I have, to date, spent OVER 18 hours of my time dealing with these miserable people (and counting), I finally got my phone number assigned to the correct account after keeping at it with these people, I followed all of their instructions again to be able to keep the promotion I signed up for (half price pixel 4a 5g) but I received an automated message to my email saying that I don't apply for the promotion because I did not transfer my phone number from another provider to google fi .... Which is absolute BS. Every customer service representative I speak to has continuously contradicted the prior one's steps that they have given me while on the phone with them, and now none of them, not even supervisors, want to do anything about the situation I am in, blaming it on the fact that promotion rules are automated .... Like humans can't override a machine when they are the ones who have led me down this mistaken path. I have kept and forwarded them all of the IDs of the conversations I have kept (I did not get 4 of them but have 6), why the hell do they give you these for your records and say that the conversations will be recorded IF THEY DON'T EVEN BOTHER TO LOOK INTO YOUR HISTORY AND LISTEN TO THEM. It's easier for them to blow you off and play dumb and blame it on automated machines. Absolutely pathetic; I DESPISE google fi.

Absolute garbage

Reviewed on 2021-04-15T15:03:48

I would much prefer to give this zero stars. I live in a rural area. I'm dependent on wifi calling. After getting the Pixel 5 and setting up Fi I was never able to make a single call at my house. After being charged for 2 replacement phones the last customer rep I spoke with stated I should just try a different phone or provider. The best part of all this is that when I traded in my phone I got an email saying "your phone is worth $160 and will be credited to your Fi account or credit card if applicable". To no surprise the credit was applied to my closed fi account. The rep I spoke with today told me that because I financed a phone (which was already returned) the credit can only be applied to my closed account. Do not for any reason even consider switching to Fi. The phone service and the customer service are the worst in the industry.

Bought a new Moto G Stylus before…

Reviewed on 2021-04-15T01:15:37

Bought a new Moto G Stylus before Christmas on the Fi website. After a day I could not use the phone due to so many applications needing authorization to access my location and phone habits.Google FI return system which is only online states, "Error code 501." After contacting FI numerous times they would not return my phone and the site to return products from the Fi site is still inoperable. This was a scam to sell me a dated phone. The phone was manufactured Feb 2020. Its already a year old and never used. That is why they wouldnt return items during xmas. SO sad. DO NOT USE their cell phone service or buy anything from google or google fi. They disrespect the customer and steal your money. I wrote a dispute letter to my credit card company and won and kept the phone. If you have a issue always write a dispute letter and keep your rights. YOU will win everytime. NEVER call about the dispute or error or do an online submission. YOU lose your rights as a customer and the bank has no incentive to rule in your favor. USE MINT mobile Ive been very pleased with their cell service and they use tmobile same as google fi
