Appalling customer service in every way

I have been trying to help my son claim at least a credit but preferably a refund for a trip he booked last summer which,of course, he couldn't take. The airline claims the flight still operated (but the borders were closed so even if it did go with some cargo that's irrelevant!) It was booked through a third party (which has since gone into liquidation) as an agent, and it clearly states on the ABTA web page that flights booked through an agent are refundable by the airline. Despite having sent this information to the airline several times, they refuse to help. If there was an option to give no stars or negative ones I would have. Alarm bells should have been ringing after reading the other reviews on here, to which the airline has not even had the decency to respond. I intend to publicise this further and through as many channels as I can find unless they do the right thing by us and all the other customers who have complained similarlyread more

Terrible customer service. I do not recommend booking with Icelandair in advance of your trip.Cancellation protection is a scam. Icelandair is the least flexible airline I've experienced.read more

I used this Airline to fly to Boston, USA in 2016. It cost me £854 in a Economy class.This Airline don't serve you any meal, They serve you snacks which you have to buy it Either using Iceland Krona or your credit card. Their entertainment channel was outdated. When we landed on Reykjavik for transit, Their international terminal was so small it had one sandwich shop, one bar(which was closed), one souvenir shop, one toilet (where we had to queue). Anything you buy from their terminal you either have to use Krona, American Dollars or Credit card to which they will give you change in Krona (which was pretty useless when I landed in Boston). No Internet or TV services for passengers. They didn't have enough seating, So most of us were sitting on a cold floor for hours and they also delayed our flights. This was the worst experience of my International flight. I would not recommend anyone using this Airlines if you are flying to North America.read more

Booked a first class ticket with this company. Not a week later they cancelled the whole flight,and obviously they're not refunding my money, because of "the current situation", so I had to pay even more money to get a ticket with KLM, which btw, 100% lived up to their promises. I am sick and tired of all the companies using Covid-19 as an excuse for bad customer service. Icelandair wasn't great before the pandemic hit(I've traveled with them a few times), but they definitely went from bad to horrible in 2020. Do not use this company, especially if you want to travel to/from North America. It is a waste of money, energy and resources.read more

I have been waiting for a refund off this airline since last January due to the flight been changed.This is the worst airline. They do not reply to emails, only an automatic email and I have sent numerous emails asking for an update. Their customer service is appalling. I have never witnessed such bad customer service. An absolute joke of an airline. Don't get me wrong I completely understand with Covid-19 there may be a delay but I have been waiting for this refund with nearly 11 months now.read more

Horrible!! Booked and paid for 2 tickets (US to Iceland) in Nov2019 for Travel in Sept2020.IcelandAir canceled flights in Aug2020, and I immediately applied for a full refund. Since then, I have called numerous times and can get no info from the agents. Additionally, they off-shored their CS to Asia and those agents are only allowed to say that they will escalate the issue AFTER 90 days. We all understand the issues that COVID-19 has caused, but their response is lacking, unprofessional and will result in many travelers never considering them again. I feel sorry for the citizens of Iceland because their inaction reflects poorly on the country, which shouldn't be the case, but will.read more
