The service was solid and it shipped in time for the proposal. The only negative was it was not engraved like I had it in my cart.I do understand if the ring setting was too thin, but an alert or notification would have been appreciated. She absolutely loves the ring though

Be careful spending your money with James Allen.

Be careful.
James Allen may not actually have what you buy, even after you confirm with them that they have it,and even after you pay for it via bank wire.
After reading their ‘Shop with Confidence’ statement, I trusted that they actually have the diamonds they display on their site. I selected a diamond, requested the GIA report, which they sent, confirmed with their customer service that it was available, and then I bought it. James Allen sent a confirmation of my purchase. Then I paid for my purchase via bank wire. Again James Allen sent a confirmation of receipt of my payment and set a shipping date. That was last week.
Today, I contacted customer service because there didn’t seem to be any progress. Customer service said my diamond is no longer available. When I asked for an explanation, they are unable to provide one. When I asked for a replacement of the same quality, they offered two at lower quality, and one at higher price.
I’m an honest guy. I work hard and I pay for what I buy. I expect businesses to be able to deliver what they sell. I don’t understand what happened, and I don’t understand why James Allen wouldn’t offer to replace my purchase with a diamond of like quality for the price I paid. Maybe they will do so, but so far, I don’t really think I’m able to ‘Shop with Confidence’ at James Allen.
Be careful spending your money with James Allen.

Poorly made engagement ring

My fiancé brought me an engagement ring from James Allen back in January of this year.I have to say that the ring is absolutely beautiful, and we had no problems with shipping. However the ring is unfortunately so poorly made that it has broken twice in the five months I have had it. The first time it broke was only 24 hours after wearing it, and in both instances I have no idea how or why it has broken and therefore feel that the only explanation is down to the way it has been made. An engagement ring should be made to be worn on a daily basis (and fir many years!) and should been strong enough to withstand basic daily tasks! I always remove the ring when doing anything out of the ordinary e.g. any physically activity, gardening, washing up etc, so it’s certainly not a case of me being careless of a delicate piece of jewellery. It’s such a shame because as I say, the ring is really beautiful but there is no point having a nice ring if you can’t wear it due to fear of it falling apart. I’ve contacted customer service and am waiting for James Allen to respond with a solution for this defected piece of jewellery that was purchased from them in good faith. I would other customers to proceed with caution.

James Allen’s team have rejected me and all UAE residents as customers. For post to enter this country,we need to list a PO BOX - in addition to the physical delivery address. Their team seems to lack understanding of how sign for-courier and PO BOXes work - I provided sufficient proof that the address provided was not a PO BOX:
- Google Maps of my home address.
- Google image search of my address.
- UAE post office phone number so they could check what I am saying.
- Recent purchase from another site received by FedEx - proof I signed for it - proof the address was the same.
James Allen canceled my order without my approval and issued a refund. I do not have an alternative address. I purchase everything, and I mean everything online, most by sign-for packages, and this has been the worst customer experience ever. If anything I stretched over and above to provide as much information as possible and I was met with arrogance and rudeness.
I warned the lady if she was to remove the PO BOX from the address the package may not pass customs (I have seen this happen by mistake) and she told me if that happens I need to pay extra shipping...for their editing of my address.
Plus it’s silly, they use FedEx courier who call customers to arrange delivery so all this effort goes to waste because if I didn’t meet the FedEx guy to sign for my package it would ultimately, be returned to sender.
