I've had a Onkyo receiver for less than 2 years and it's broken twice the first time it took over 4months to have it fixed and now the HDMI board has gone and I can't find anyone in Canada to help me honour their 2 year warrenty I just keep getting the run around. all their phone numbers don't work from what I understand they are in bankruptcy or near bankruptcy and I'm out over $1400 I can't even pay to get parts in Canada

Stay away from Onkyo, support is non-existent

Bought a system a few years ago and now have a problem out of warranty, I raised a ticket with Onkyo about paying to resolve the problem and they pointed me to 3 dealers in the UK,these dealers do not respond at all so now I have to replace my Atmos cinema system. When I do replace it there is not a chance it will be Onkyo, customer service is poor if you have any issues.

Fine until it breaks - then you'll never see it

I have an Onkyo A9010 amplifier. Or I did. It developed a fault 8 months after purchase.I contacted the point of purchase who said "contact Onkyo". I did. They do not have a UK customer service centre, channelling everything through Germany. They advised me to contact one of their 3 listed UK service centres, who I must say were excellent up front. They are independent of Onkyo. They collected the item free of charge, and tested it, and found a fault. They reported this to Onkyo for authorisation of repair/replacement. And Onkyo haven't replied. For more than eight weeks. I chase this with the service centre and am told "we are still waiting for Onkyo to reply". I tried contacting Onkyo: they have not replied to me either. I've tried to escalate, but everyone points to "waiting on Onkyo". I'm forced to raise a case with Consumer Direct to enforce my rights to a refund for a faulty item. I will never, ever buy Onkyo again. Great when it works, horrendous when it breaks. Save your stress levels. I wouldn't even give them one star for their appalling service, but TrustPilot forced me to.

Don't buy a brick

Onkyo had several years when they produced AV Receivers with faulty HDMI boards. They made an effortto make amends with those customers that came forth with their issues and had an extended replacement program. Nice and dandy!! Well, my unit died after their extended replacement program ended. I called and emailed and received quick responses but they pretty much said oh well. I was never notified that my unit was one of the affected ones nor were anyone else. There should have been a recall on the units not an oh well lets just skim by and replace the product when for people that know about the issue. Terrible handling of something that was a known and big big issue. Do a search for "Onkyo No Sound" and will get a lot of hits. Proceed with Caution particularly if you are buying a used av receiver.

Bought an Onkyo receiver tx-nr737 in…

Reviewed on 2021-01-25T02:44:19

Bought an Onkyo receiver tx-nr737 in 2015 paired with klipsch speakers. Cost me over $4000.We had a baby in 2015 so the unit was infrequently used and also at low volumes. Ran the 5.1 setup even though the capability was 7.2.2. In the same year the 5 year warranty expired, the unit one day just switched off and went into protection mode. Called Amber Technologies Australia and got some service agents number. Took it to an agent and was told the surround back right channel power amp and voltage amp boards failed. He repaired it and said surround back right speaker needed to be tested as to why the unit failed. I told him I ran the unit as 5.1 so there was no surround back right speaker connected. He also used refurbished part to repair the unit and this was only revealed to me when I asked for the failed parts to be given to me. How unlucky am I that an unused channel damages the unit. The whole system was bought as a package through Harvey Norman Liverpool. I am picking up my unit this afternoon and would be interesting to see what the service agent says regarding the non-existent speaker that caused the damage. Sound quality was good but not to the extent that it was out of this world. There are better brands out there. I know I would be staying away from Onkyo when I purchase my next amp and I would also advise others to do the same. My amp has not been used much yet it failed on me.

Was a loyal fan of Onkyo for many years for my very first time ever had one of their subwoofer amplifiersgo bad on me it's a very simple plug-and-play job so I contacted the company attempting to locate a replacement amplifier and although they do carry the amplifier they will not sell it to me unless I am an authorized retailer which is absolutely ridiculous there is no warranty as a subwoofer is too old in the sound quality has always been excellent I really wanted to stay with it but after the run around they gave me basically to tell me the only way to repair is to send it off to one of their service centers on my own dime so it's time to make the switch to Harman Kardon

Just not worth the hassle.?

Reviewed on 2020-10-09T22:11:36

Look the sound will be amazing and it will come across as being a high quality product. The trouble is that major corners have been cut in order to maximise profit. Twice have hdmi boards failed and onkyo have admitted on numerous forums this is an issue. You can spend loads of time emailing and trying to get help or meet you atleast halfway on this but to be honest there is loads of quality in this field out there and you don't need the hassle. So stear clear of onkyo. ?
