Johnson’s Liverpool franchise

Went in to speak to someone about the new electric Enyaq with a view to ordering one.No one available and only speaking to people via appointments, lots of staff around all running about. To be fair the receptionist was very pleasant and apologetic but I was surprised there were so few people available to pick up on sales that walk in off the street. She also told me that the manager had advised that this car isn’t available and won’t be with them until summer - a quick google search would have told him you can order from the 10th of March with delivery in May. They don’t seem very clued up on their premier new vehicle which doesn’t fill you with much confidence. However having read the other reviews of Skoda I think it may have been a lucky escape. I’ve been sacred off Skoda now and will look at the Kia and Hyundai offers later this year.

I wish their service was as clever as their cars...

The webpage itself is quite terrible in terms of navigation and performance issues - no matter where I open it,it always is a struggle. When it manages to load after a long time, search for used cars is really not straight forward. Not only the filtering does not offer things like 4x4 or optional features (like camera, power boot,...) but the information in the description of the cars are hugely inconsistent and on many occasions inacurrate - not matching the actual car. Then, should you overcome all this and find the car you'd like to buy, there is an option for submitting an offer or an enquiry. Skoda allows you to select the option to be contacted via email and untick the telephone, but it seems to be completely irrelevant as the dealers are always trying to call. And offer? What a joke! No matter how sensible my offer was, it always ended up either being totally ignored or turned into an explanation that my offer is so and so below listing price and they are happy to put that difference into the PCP. Seriously Skoda? I do like your cars, but this is a total disgrace and waste of peoples time and effort.

Review of Euro Skoda Crawley

Reviewed on 2021-04-01T05:28:51

Review of Euro Skoda Crawley. My wife drove the 200 miles from Devon to exchange our diesel for a new electric car that she had bought online. We (and the dealer) knew that she would have to stop on the way home for a top-up charge but the dealer refused to give her any advice on how to do this “as it was a click-and-collect service”. She imagined, wrongly, that it would be the simple matter of stopping at a service station albeit with a slightly longer wait of 40 minutes as she had been led to believe. The dealer did, however, set up her phone to operate the sat-nav without showing her where the hidden USB port was to attach the charger lead. First the phone ran out of charge, then the car started to run out. She found that she could not charge the car without her phone to operate an app to pay for the charge. Neither could she phone for help, nor could she (she is a type 1 diabetic) use her phone for a blood-sugar test. Eventually she found someone to help charge her phone a little and she was able to start charging but the dealer had not told her the difference between “fast” charging and “rapid” charging. The difference is several hours. She spent most of the night in the car attached to a “fast” charger because the dealer had refused to give her a few friendly words of advice. She arrived home at 5:15am after a journey of 13 hours. If it was truly a “click-and-collect” service she would be returning the car under the “distance selling” regulations, not because she hates the car but because the dealer was so incredibly unhelpful. It was a brutal experience which will be hard to forget.

Defective windscreen, appalling service and shaken down for money. A 2 year saga.

Reviewed on 2021-03-30T15:43:01

I am absolutely appalled by Skoda. Having bought a new car in early 2019 which had a defect in the windscreen within the drivers field of vision,it has taken numerous attempts and a lot of time and effort to get any traction or acceptance of the issue, finally to be told just over 2 weeks ago, more than 2 years since we first reported the issue to the selling garage, that it could be replaced. Our current local garage (Citygate Skoda, Watford) have been utterly atrocious and borderline unpleasant, demanding that we provide photographic evidence to support a warranty claim (despite having had two occasions to photograph it themselves and acknowledging the defect when inspecting), eventually conceding they could not adequately capture the visual defect in a photograph, which in turn did not satisfy Skoda's warranty department. The garage subsequently changed their position to "we don't agree there is a defect" when Skoda UK determined they would be responsible for the financial risk of changing a "high value item" (windscreen) which may be deemed perfectly serviceable when returned for inspection. Skoda UK eventually stepped in and agreed to front the cost (if the warranty department inspected and disagreed) and we have waited over two weeks to get the call since that point to book the car in, to then be given an earliest appointment time of another 16 days time. Within that same call they then demanded £750 insurance excess for a scratch on a courtesy car that we certainly were not responsible for, 19 days after returning the vehicle. Skoda UK have been next to useless in providing any assurance or support, choosing it would seem, to side with the garage. As a result I want rid of our otherwise decent car and will be pursuing this via the motor ombudsman. I cannot express the anguish and difficulty we have had in trying to resolve something which is plainly wrong with the car (as agreed by several Skoda staff who have physically seen the issue) and remains unresolved and now virtually unresolvable as I don't want to deal anymore with Citygate, or Skoda UK. I will actively advise against owning a Skoda, this issue has been a miserable experience, severely tested my patience and they have treated me and my family like a problem through every interaction, apart from the sale, which I've come to realise is all they seem interested in.

Shocking customer care from both garage and manufacture

Reviewed on 2021-03-28T11:47:36

Have had Skoda's for many years and the last few years have been so much trouble. I agree with everyone here on Trustpilot that has had issues.Skoda warranty is not worth the paper it is written on. You have to fight to get any warranty claim through and they make it impossible for the customer. Their diagnostic software has been set up not to detect any problems in my opinion. Just like they did with the emission scandal and still do not admit it now to what they did. I am sure its fixed. Any customer that has any problem with a vehicle needs to document it. Even though they will fight you all the way, I have finally come to the conclusion that you are wasting your time with this manufacturer, they do not seem to be that bothered about customer care, or their customers, they haven’t learnt anything from their past. Whilst I have spoken with customer care at Skoda, and they have been polite, they read from a script, and even when you push them, they just blame everyone else including the dealer. I have had so problems, I've lost count. They don’t seem to have the build quality anymore , and the technical support is a joke. What else can I say. I will be looking to purchase from another manufacturer. I also notice from Trustpilot that Skoda do not respond to any of the reviews good or bad, and haven’t done so for the past 12 months. People, please listen to what is said on Trustpilot, it clearly shows that they do not care about their customers. Do not believe all their glossy brochures, and their clever advertising, because it amounts to nothing. Skoda have made it difficult to leave a review, so If you want to leave a google review type this: 'skoda Ltd' in your google search.

Warranty Dispute and Fraud

Reviewed on 2021-03-26T22:41:25

It is a little bit of a saga but about two months ago the infotainment/main screen on my wifes 2017 Yeti failed. We bought it with 12,000 miles on it 5 months ago. It has two years extended warranty on it. Fast forward I book it into Skoda West End Garage outside Edinburgh to fix it (and also fix a tow bar), assumably under warranty. After a brief fight for a courtesy car I leave the Yeti there and they fail to get back to me by the end of the day so the next day I call them. I called and apparently the main control unit has failed and isnt under warranty, but even though I have just called for an update they have already secured a 60% goodwill gesture to me. Odd. That still leaves me with a 500£ bill for a car with 12k miles and just 3 years old. Its completely unacceptable but they clearly run through their version of the extended warranty and make it clear that somehow this central bit of electronics present in most Skoda cars is actually not under warranty. Laughable. I challenge this and my aftersales advisor James reminds me of all his experience in these matters and indicates that this is has never been covered in his experience. What a bunch of lies. I went to check my warranty document (Jan 14th 2020 onwards) and they are indeed covered very very clearly in the writing. Furthermore it is a piece of kit that has been covered by every Skoda extended warranty since 2015 at least! When I raised this with him over the phone and in person the next day he simply said 'oh, well that's odd'. I mentioned to him that surely a large number of his used approved customers with the same fault would have lost out and he had nothing to say. Think of all the Skoda customers who will have paid huge amounts of money for this. His only explanation was to produce an undated Skoda warranty booklet that he showed me to justify his mistake. In it it said that broadly, electrical equipment was not covered. It has no relation to any of the online warranty documents, even and early Skoda 2015 extended warranty document. Simply, Its fraud on the part of Skoda West End Garage Edinburgh and I will be contacting the motoring Obudman and Which. At the end of the day I was sent home in my Skoda unfixed as they have a long wait for the replacement part - but it will now be replaced under warranty. I can't belive they had the gall to rudely demand I drive over an hour again to pick up an unfixed car. Hours out of my week as an essential worker and self employed.

Well done Skoda Newcastle

Reviewed on 2021-03-26T14:37:15

I recently bought a new / 5 week old octavia on 9/3/21. On returning home I noticed stone chip damageon the bonnet so e-mailed the dealer as a detailed paint inspection was not carried out at handover and this definately did not occur on the drive home. On the whole i have to say that the buying experience was very good and comprehensive with the sales team. Latest Update from Skoda Newcastle car booked in the stone chip is going to be addressed so i have to upgrade them to a 5 star performance.
