As a Sunderland resident I really want to give support to the Echo’s on line site however it’s really,really, bad. I have continued to pay my £7.99 monthly subscription but the technical difficulties are dire. The site itself is quite informative and I would like to keep enjoying its content but it keeps logging you out, won’t let you back in, woeful sign-in and many page errors. I know the paper needs advertising to stay afloat however it seems the adverts are constantly fighting with the news content and unfortunately I feel I am paying a reasonable amount of money for a load of rubbish. Too expensive for a flimsy paper and not even published in Sunderland any more. They cant even do a SAFC match report if an evening mid week kick off you wont see any report next day.Because of that I stopped buying it .read more

It used to be a real Newspaper. Not much in it these days except essays from local Labour MP's and Councillors.Very little real reporting anymore and they charge some of the highest prices in the North East of England if you want to put an obituary in it.read more

This tired local newspaper which prints very little that is newsworthy prints nothing against Sunderland council which seems to have it in its pocket.It does however print news which has already been printed in the Newcastle chronicle newspaper ( different owner ) regarding Sunderland council, so not so much a case of news but a second hand newspaper.read more
