More often than not they are not on time and cancellations are common. Platforms can be changed last minute which leads to confusion and missed trains.Give yourself plenty of time if you need to be somewhere important like the airport.read more

Covid response ridiculous

Of all of the Covid refunds I had to chase up (including RyanAir which had awful articles written about it),Trenitalia has been the worst. Initially it shared great messages about how "we're working on refunds right away" which was very promising, I thought it would not be a problem. It has now been 6 months, in which time I've had to chase several times and been sent in circles. I received an email over two weeks ago saying my refund had finally been authorised (authorised 6 months after chasing a global pandemic - did it need authorising?!), and I should allow enough time for a bank transfer. A bank transfer takes 1-4 business days, but I thought I'd allow two weeks. I've just been on the Live Chat and been told I can expect it within a month - outrageous. When I eventually do visit Italy, I will be travelling by another form of transport. Such a shame as my wife an I were looking forward to the train journeys, but this has left such a sour taste in my mouth. It's honestly made me think that Italy may not be the place to visit if this nationwide service represents their peopleread more

Trains were dirty and late!

We got a train from Milan to Verona - Verona to Venice and back.
The train to Verona was late,so we missed our second train to Venice and got there more than 1h after we were supposed to.
The trains are in bad shape, not clean at all, not suitable for the COVID situation, and the last one literally smelled like manure.

In terms of customer service I would give them just ZERO. unprepared staff and extremely rude :((Terrible service, often late. Sometimes you get stuck on the railroad tracks with nobody telling you what a hell is going on and the train crew members trying to avoid customer’s questions.

Really bad, no organisation and the employees are disrespectful. I am in Napoli. It's not my fault that the train is delayed.I have to go home, because I work the next day and they can't give me any possibility to arrive in Domodossola before 21h in the evening, because my last train home is then. They've sent me to 3 different information stands and then they didn't know what to do. The employee became angry, she should take some English lessons in the future. So I got into the train to Alessandria and now I'm waiting for someone to say that my last train in Alessandria to arrive in time is this one, if they can call the train to wait... And maybe then I will have to call someone of my family to come and pick me up because there is 0 organisation. I'm really disappointed and I will for sure fly the next time and avoid TRENITALIA. The train crew was super friendly and explained me what to do.read more
