Parking problems

Reviewed on 2021-05-22T15:53:18

Waitrose in Bury St Edmunds, no longer has control over it car park as it is owned and operated by a private company, which now has free parking for three hours whether you use the shop or not. Consequently since the store is close to town people are parking and not going into Waitrose but to town, resulting in very little car park space for customers, especially on a Saturday. This arrangement is at the detriment to customers and one of the craziest idea I have come across. Who makes these decisions??? What makes them think people will still go into the town car parks and pay when they have three hours free in a car park intended for Waitrose customers?

Kingsthorpe Northampton Waitrose…

Reviewed on 2021-05-22T14:58:02

Kingsthorpe Northampton Waitrose currently undergoing a refurb, I might as well switch to Asda next door (cheaper)- aisles in 'trose now narrower, produce all over the place and yards of empty shelves. At the beginning there were blue shirted assistants everywhere accosting customers and offering help to find stuff, now hardly any to be seen and when you do manage to grab someone to ask where something is sorry to sound like an old fogie but i do not appreciate being patronised by a 17 year old and being called "darling", "lovie", etc. What happened to "sir" or "madam"? Mine is never a big shop now smaller family but still have been a loyal customer for a long time. Food stuff aisles mixed with household cleaning, no logic to any of it. Not a pleasure any more to shop here. And OK there's a refurb but from how it's shaping doesn't look like it's going to retain the Waitrose feel, just a pricier version of Asda/Aldi/Tesco. Very sad.

Generally positive experience of…

Reviewed on 2021-05-22T12:59:35

Generally positive experience of shopping here. Especially more in my local branch in East Grinstead than others. It's a store I like to get basic foodstuffs from. Lots of the own brand items are good value. Apparently it's also according to previous examination by Which magazine, the consumer's publication, our leading UK discount supermarket! Which surprised me to know. As they regularly discount more each day than even places like Aldi and Lidl do overall. I've certainly enjoyed a lot of price reductions and mark downs at end of day on food. And bought cheap batteries and other goods where they heavily discount lines they're discontinuing from shelves regularly. I know and like lots of the local store staff as have known them for a great number of years, some. The Boots Chemist branch in-store is good. I greatly miss the free coffee, and hope one day after the pandemic that it could return.

Waitrose Thame. Excellent service. Not feeling too good was given a chair and a bottle of water.Assistant Rhian was so kind and helpful. Insisted on staying with me, then helped with my shopping. She insisted on escorting me to my car. I certainly could do with Rhian helping me at every shop. Thank you very much Pat O’Neill

Waitrose Billericay

Reviewed on 2021-05-21T12:46:54

I have used Waitrose for my primary supermarket shop for over 20 years. In that time I have seen many ups and downs, but as regards quality of goods and customer service they are the best available in the UK. In my local Waitrose stock availability has improved over the past year (despite covid) which was often a problem previously. I have never used online food service, but use quick check which is great time saver. I would like to thank the staff at the Billericay branch for there fantastic service over the years.

Exceptionally unreliable and frustrating

Reviewed on 2021-05-21T12:27:23

Exceptionally unreliable; quite often incorrect quantitiers or missing products (even when they are in stock). In the last 3 months, not one single order has been correctly fulfilled, and repeated assurances by customer support that "we will get it right next time" are meaningless, as the same mistakes happen over and over. They cant even manage to call back at an agreed time. Truly, the WORST supermarket delivery service i have ever tried.

Need to see my ID for a loaf of bread?!

Reviewed on 2021-05-19T20:18:53

Need to see my ID for groceries?! I have ordered online with Waitrose many times and have usually enjoyed both the service and products, however today i was absolutely appauled by the way i was spoken to and made to feel by a member of staff by the name of 'Matt'. Now, just to be clear i am a woman in her late thirties and didnt have any alcohol or age restriced items in my shop, and never do, but this young man (who looked all of about 17) decided to get shirty with me about seeing some ID, all the while he was standing over my shopping in front of my door! Matt told me i couldnt have it until i showed him some form of ID, which i didnt do, because this isn't soviet Russia, and one should NOT need to show their papers just to recieve some food! The fact that i had paid on MY card and had the huge shop delivered to MY address meant nothing to him, he promptly got on the phone to his superiors to see what could be done, so i decided to call Waitrose myself to see what was going on with this ransom situation. It all took about 15mins before Matt decided he had enough and promptly picked ALL of my shopping up and carted it back to the van while i wasnt looking. All the while telling me it was 'company policy' to require ID for a delivery! I have never experienced this level of intimidation and bully boy tactics from Waitrose or any other supermarket before, and i am still absolutely stunned by the entire exchange. I have since closed my online account and will never use this power mad company again! PS: I was passed from one department to the next on the phone for almost an hour and was eventually told Matt was right and i (the paying customer) was wrong. Shocking. Hence, do not reply that i should contact customer services.
