I've been using Yandex Mail for a few years now and never had a problem so I don't understand all the negative reviews. Shills maybe. It's fast, reliable and has never let me down and even played a part in me studying the Russian language and learning about their culture.

A great service
Wow. The scam here is the number of bot accounts set up to write negative reviews of Yandex. There's nothing wrong with it at all. It works perfectly fine. One of the great things about it is that it doesn't share your details with third parties. It doesn't "ask for your phone number", or unnecessary security questions, and it never asks for money! It's a free email provider.
Yandex Mail, be careful of the spam feature
W.r.t. Yandex Mail, when you set your POP3 settings, remember to include the spam folder, otherwise spam will be deleted after 10 days and you won't see any of your spam in your offline mail program. Why would you want to see spam? Because Yandex Mail's spam filter is super aggressive. About 90% of mails marked as spam are actually non-spam, legitimate mails that you did want to receive. Also, unlike Gmail, Yandex Mail processes spam checking *before* any mail filters, so it's impossible to create mail rules that prevent mails from being sent to the spam folder. It is possible to whitelist specific e-mail addresses, but not domains, and you can't whitelist mail based on other features e.g. keywords. So the only workaround is to set your POP3 download to include the spam folder, and then rely on your offline mail program for spam processing.
I used Yandex for a very long time and…
I used Yandex for a very long time and was happy with for the first years. However after a while I noticed that several email did not reach me and changing it to an alternative provider I received that message. Don't know why and I hope they will correct it sometime because the interface is still my favorite so I would be happy to get back.
