I wanted to sign up for a monthly subscription but ended up being charged $99 for a yearly subscription.This is not fair. I sent an email requesting a refund, I hope Academia.edu does right by the "no questions asked" 30-day money back guarantee.

Fake/false "mentioning notices"

Lousy lousy repository that really doesn't work honestly since it is only geared into tricking you into going premium,the bate being false "mentioning notices" when you have not been mentioned at all and when you ask for an explanation you get the answer of a moron like Alberto who limits his answer by copying what is said in the notice.
Confirmation of this by Eva Slesingerova who replied to me she never "uploaded a PDF that mentions the name "A. Ballein", evermore she doesn't read french when all my papers are in french

I was really disappointed with the Academia. I subscribed in January 2021, but couldn't upgrade to premium membership.Each time I tried to do so, I would be prompted to pay again for a premium upgrade. I did receive an email recently that I couldn't upgrade because I had two accounts. I was then sent a link to the said two accounts, which were actually one account. I clicked on both links but still received the prompts to pay for premium upgrade. Customer service is horrible, please stay away from them. I wish I read the reviews prior to subscribing. I will complain to PayPal and cancel my subscription.

Getting papers from academics sharing the same name

I am signed up to the premium service. Unfortunately I share a name with other very proactive researchers.Each day I get notifications about searches. Most of the time they are not mine and are not even in my academic area. I always tick 'this is not me' but it seems to make no difference. Is there a way please to resolve this in any way. I have had this question asked by other academics in my University with the same problem.

I got involved because I wanted to read a document about a historical situation. I had an email from the author,which surprised me. I then found that £69 had been taken from my account. I certainly was unaware that I had joined anything. I tried to disconnect from the registration and cancel- I am within the 30 days. I am not hopeful of a refund. I have also blocked them from my emails and also looked up the author who is either a genius or it is just impossible to have that amount of publication. Wish I looked them up on Trustpilot beforehand!

STAY AWAY FROM THIS ORGANISATION. I actually don’t want to give any stars. I just saw a debit on my bank statement for a payment of £82.80 ,to this company, using my bank card. The only time I ever visited this site was in 2018 -2019 when I was studying. I never agreed or paid for any membership , let alone to renew in 2021. I am concerned as it is a new bank card and don’t understand how this can be done. I have contacted them , I will see what their response is. I would not recommend anyone to get involved with this organisation .
