What does Afternic do?

Afternic is the world's premiere domain marketplace, listing more than five million premium domain names available for sale and receiving more than 75 million domain searches each month—more than any other domain marketplace. Founded in 1999, Afternic launched the first website where domain owners could list their domain for sale, and prospective domain buyers could review available inventory—connecting buyers and sellers of domain names and creating the industry's first domain marketplace. Since our founding, we have been continuously expanding and innovating, introducing new technologies like Fast Transfer that allow a domain buyer to have immediate control of a purchased domain, and building a distribution network that now includes more than 100 partners that market our domain listings the world over. Whether you are a domain buyer or a domain seller, Afternic is the most trusted name in premium domain sales.

Their customer service is atrocious

Their customer service is atrocious. I spoke with 3 phone reps, none of whom were qualified/authorized to deal with my issue, all of whom refused to allow me to speak with someone at a higher level.

One strike and you're out..

Reviewed on 2021-04-07T11:20:31

One strike and you're out... worst customers service ever. I have been trying to sort out my suspended acc for weeks.Their support email is hit and miss, you either never get a reply, receive a reply after a couple of weeks, or receive a vague (almost robot like) response. Their phone system can sometimes play a recorded message saying it is out of hours, even when it isn't, and when you do get through you'll receive false promises. I made an error with a purchase which led to my acc looking like it has cash laundering fraud (for a whole $200). I've tried to explain my situation multiple times over and over again but they just don't listen. Today I finally rec'd an email which said: "Thank you for contacting Afternic Support. We apologize for the delayed response. Your account has been permanently suspended for violation of the terms of use." After weeks of explaining the issue and why this happened I just get a 3 sentence response like this! Awful company and awful customer service. BE WARNED the only time you'll receive good service is when someone enquires about buying one of your domains, this is because they earn commission - if they're not earning commission it would seem they're not interested in your issues. As the Market leader (by number of customers, NOT by service or better UI etc) I would say their days are numbered if they don't start making improvements. Their complacency will be their undoing. There are much better companies emerging with ultra fast service and up to date user interfaces, free services, and great utilization of modern technology. Tick tock Afternic.

Extremely terrible customer service

Reviewed on 2021-03-31T08:32:48

I opened an account with them, listed my domains and got an email that they would send me another email containing links to verify ownership of my listed domains. The mail was never sent. The next day, my account was suspended with no reason provided. I've been been contacting support through their online form and by email but there's been no response at all. To add to their crappy service delivery, their UI is absolutely zero!

Poor Customer Service

Reviewed on 2021-02-24T20:31:42

I spent over an hour on the phone with three customer service? reps in an attempt to have my domain name listed for sale on Afternic.None of these people were of any help, and I made one final call to close my account and go elsewhere. Question: Does Afternic actually train their customer service reps? Cuz what they told me to do just didn't work Adios and good riddance!

Scammed out of $25k

Reviewed on 2021-02-06T01:13:29

Bought a premium domain from them for $25k. Was assured by sales rep it would be transferred to myHover account however after they took my money they said it must be transferred to a Godaddy account and then I could transfer it from there. Not only this, I had to give them the Godaddy account details within 24 hours otherwise they would keep both my money and the domain. I begrudgingly accepted this and made the Godaddy account to find that the domain can’t be transferred for 2 months and to add insult to injury the domain renews in 30 days meaning I have to pay for another whole year with Godaddy for only a month of which I’ll use. It gets better - there’s an A record the domain inherited that cannot be edited or deleted which forces the domain to stay up for sale when you go on there, so they could be getting other suckers to pay them for the domain I supposedly own but cannot use or connect to our website because of this sticky A record. Overall, wouldn’t recommend, this company is a nightmare from hell
