American Modern: Heavy Financial Strain and Unnecessary Vulnerability
Condensed Review I waited until my claim was complete to write this review. American Modern sent customer surveys on August 11 and 14, which I left unread; evaluating them made no sense until the claim was resolved. I did not receive the final supplemental and recoverable-depreciation checks until August 25. Even now, I cannot access the money because the checks are jointly payable to my mortgage company, requiring their endorsement first. This is frustrating because American Modern required proof of completed repairs—including the contractor’s final invoice—before releasing the funds. The work was already done and paid for, yet reimbursement remains locked behind another institution’s processing time. The insured must finance repairs, prove completion, wait for payment, and then wait for mortgage endorsement. I could carry these costs, but otherwise, my daughter would have been left in a damaged home with open walls and an unsecured garage entry. American Modern paid, but the process was slow, cumbersome, and shifted the financial burden to me. I would not choose them again or recommend them to anyone needing prompt assistance.

Embrace Pet Insurance uses deceptive administrative tactics to avoid honoring policy terms. When I asked for factual clarification on claim denials and presented negative lab results already on file, Embrace refused to answer directly. Instead, they converted my routine compliance inquiries into a manufactured, self-initiated internal "appeal" (Appeal No. EC1251-5301) without my consent to block further review. Their system is designed to stonewall policyholders, shift pre-existing condition dates, and dodge accountability. Prospective customers should look elsewhere. Not worth the hassle

I would encourage everyone to stay away from this insurance company. A agency wrote a policy on my Airbnb, the rate was good so I switched from the company I had been for 15 years. So they send and inspector to the house who says there are tree limbs over the roof and they were canceling my policy in 5 days at midnight if the tree limbs weren’t cut down, No way to get it done that fast so I had to get another policy with auto owners a little more money but better coverage. So Tuesday the limbs were cut back 36 hours after they canceled my policy . A reputable company would at least contact the customer to make the correction but their model is just cancel with a 5 day notice. They should be out of business I will contact my state insurance office to file a formal complaint they are a fraud!!!

Raised home policy 42% after 1 year, no claims. Just a classic bait and switch. Moved to State Farm, better coverage and lower price.
I think this company may be a scam
I think this company may be a scam. I was unable to pay my premium through their website. Finally contacted an agent and paid my bill. Now, I get a random $25 unexplained charge on my card. I sent customer service a message asking what it was for. Crickets. I let them know that my difficulties with their website has caused me to look elsewhere. Now I cannot log into my account despite the fact that I've paid my premium and cannot even look at my coverage online to compare. I doubt they would pay if I had a claim.

American modern is deceptive and don’t train tell agents that in order to get water damage coverage you have to add a rider. We had a water in our basement and told us sorry, we don’t cover water as part of the base coverage. I couldn’t believe it. I checked with our agent and he checked all the other companies he writes for and they were the only one that doesn’t include water damage by default.
