Avoid bonus offers - they are tempting but you will not see your money again

All competent gamblers know to read the small print before entering into a bonus agreement. But to my knowledge only one sportsbook requires you to read the invisible print as well.
When Casumo e-mailed me to offer me a 50% bonus on a £100 deposit the 30x (deposit+bonus) wagering requirement struck me as being a little prohibitive, but I figured I could still make it work. After all, there was nothing in the advertising blurb in the e-mail about staking restrictions.
Furthermore, when I contacted the sportsbook through its decent live chat service to specifically ask whether there were any further constraints that I needed to be aware of, I was resolutely assured that there weren’t.
Now I know some might consider it unsporting, but I am entitled to lay my bets at the exchanges and this was what I decided to do. As such any wins that I made at Casumo would be closely mirrored by losses elsewhere. And boy did I get some wins – in spite of my best efforts I somehow managed to chalk up 12 wins in a row at Casumo, leaving me with a balance of over £800 in real funds and around half that in bonus funds still to meet wagering requirements.
This was where the fun (for Casumo) began. I contacted Customer Services through the aforesaid decent live chat service to confirm that I had £175 left to wager before my bonus funds would be converted into real money. No, they smugly advised me. My wagering requirement was still over £4200 (from £4500 originally). It’s all there in the Terms & Conditions, all wagers must be at 1.6 or above. And indeed it was – once I’d found the obscure page hidden in the darkest recesses of the site and had strained my eyes to read the tiny, laborious, light-grey text which, conveniently, was almost invisible against the white background. Who writes in small, light-grey, almost-impossible-to-read text other than someone who is trying to deter the customer from actually seeing it?
But it gets worse. With every wager I placed the sportsbook obligingly allowed me to include my bonus funds in the wager – knowing that if the bet lost my bonus funds would be lost with it, whereas if it won there would be no benefit at all to be had from having risked my bonus funds. It also seems my remaining wagering requirement was there all along for me to see – at the bottom of the Withdrawals page, which of course is quite literally the very last place a customer playing out a bonus would look!
Having been belatedly alerted to all this chicanery and deceitful behaviour I had an agonising choice to make. Whether to forfeit my bonus (and take a real-time £400 hit, due to my having laid my bets elsewhere), or play out the remaining £4200 wagering requirement – that’s assuming there weren’t any more hidden traps to be uncovered along the way – and risk building up a balance of several thousand pounds in Casumo which, judging from what I already knew about its business practices, there would be every chance it would try to avoid paying out to me. It wasn’t a difficult one to make. You see, I’m old school and I believe that once a party has revealed dishonest intent and a criminal mindset all trust is gone. I took my real-money balance, and my £400 loss, and scarpered, praying that Casumo would be happy with the ride it had already taken me for and at least wouldn’t seek to frustrate my withdrawal.
I have to say the withdrawal process was flawless, and indeed the funds were in my bank account within about twelve hours. Reading of the difficulties some other customers have experienced at the hands of Casumo, I was thankful for this much as I had reconciled myself to the distinct possibility that as well as the money I had already lost I might also never see my £800 again. Thankfully this never happened.
So, speaking as I find, Casumo does at least seem to pay its dues in terms of withdrawals (hence the two stars as opposed to the one that, in my anger, I was sorely tempted to give), though looking at the experiences of others possibly I was just fortunate. But its bonus offerings clearly need to be avoided like the proverbial plague. They are, demonstrably, a flagrantly dishonest tactic through which to relieve punters of their hard-earned without any realistic intention on the part of the sportsbook ever to reunite customers with their funds at the end of the process should they be successful.
Do not, repeat DO NOT, respond to Casumo’s enticements to deposit your funds in the faint (and progressively fainter) hope of benefiting from a bonus offer. You won’t.
And, for me, the dishonesty and bad faith which seem to be an integral part of Casumo’s business strategy mean I will never risk my funds with them again. When a customer is forced to take a decision between losing £400 he can barely afford or risk winning further wagers and then sweating on the withdrawal, this is no longer sport.read more

I’m really surprised with all the negative reviews, casinos are under so much pressure especially from the UKGC so read the terms, don’t breach them, provide the required documents and you’re good to go, personally casumo is my all time favourite casino I’ve never had a single problem with anything, can’t fault them.read more
