Very poor grill temperature

Char Broil Performance series 2 burner bbq
The grill bar temperature has never been hot enough for effective searing.Nothing to do with gas pressure etc. The only way to get it hot enough is to keep the lid permanently shut while cooking giving everything a sooty grease finish. The IR emitter plates are easily clogged with food debris. The idea you can burn off food debris and turn to ash is a joke.
Problem since new with different regulator fitted, all burners checked etc.

So, I decided to get in early and buy a new BBQ as looks like summer holidays will be in our back garden this year!Decided on the Char-Broil gas grill. Took about 2 hours to bolt, screw and push together. Tried automatic lighting. Didn't work. Watched a video on YouTube where a guy said maybe battery needs replacing. Battery? What battery? Nothing in packaging. Nothing in instructions. Turns out, having spent hundreds on a new BBQ they don't even give you an AA battery OR MENTION THAT YOU NEED ONE! Yet to try cooking on it. Do I need meat?!!

Disappointing product.
To say this is an entry level BBQ would be an understatement as every expenseseems to have been spared in its production despite the high purchase price of £459.99 - sold via Amazon UK. Despite the description, the only stainless steel in evidence is in the hood, burners and doors with a couple of strips of trim inserted elsewhere. Where there is stainless steel in the build it is thin and looks both cheap and fragile. It will not impress your friends. Using my VPN I connected to sites in America and found this unit on sale there for around $98 Dollars, which is probably nearer the correct price for this device.
The vast majority of this BBQ is made of painted steel plate, which will be prone to rusting and defeats the object of opting for a stainless steel BBQ in the first place. The design is poor, there is not even a place to hang your cooking utensils. Having looked at the Char-Broil site such an additional option is not available either - what all the holes in the sides of the shelving are for is beyond me, it just looks unfinished. Worst of all the cooking surface is not as advertised in the sales video. It shows stainless steel infrared diffuser grids topped by coated cast iron cooking grids being employed, but these stainless steel infrared diffuser grids are not supplied with this BBQ. Instead they have supplied 'V' shaped diffusers that sit directly on top of the burners, a cheap substitution that makes a mockery of the claims that the infrared system will produce an even temperature over the whole of the cooking surface. I find this a big con.
Visually the BBQ is disappointing, it sits high on its castors and looks ungainly. It does not even have a full back so there is a large cavernous hole that everyone will see unless you have a convenient wall to rest it against. Another problem is that standard UK 13KG propane or butane bottles will not fit inside this unit, not sure what size is actually required as there is no reference to bottle size in the instructions. If you want to use your existing 13KG gas bottles you will have to leave them outside the BBQ, which spoils the look and makes the BBQ less moveable around your patio without removing the gas bottle first. The gas regulator supplied is for the Green Patio Gas bottles, not the RED screw-in type, but it looks cheap and does not have the gas pipe attached either to it or to the BBQ inlet. Both of these ends have to be fitted manually, not an easy task if you are to ensure there is no gas leak. I found that a great deal of force is required to achieve this part of the assembly.
The instructions for building this BBQ are also disappointing. More attention has been paid to providing multiple languages than to providing helpful information. You should be comfortable following pictures to succeed in building this BBQ in a timely manner.
So overall, this BBQ looks visually poor in reality when compared to the published pictures. The sales video was obviously made for another model, despite having this models name and series number in the title, and is misleading regarding the True Infrared features they keep raving on about.
Not a good buy for me.
I could not in good conscience recommended this Char-Broil Advantage Series 345S - 3 Burner Gas Barbecue Grill with TRU-Infrared Technology, Stainless Steel Finish to anyone. I can’t help the feeling that I have been conned.

I have a charbroil grill model…

I have a charbroil grill model 463349917. Bought it November 2017. Have used it 5 times.It will never get over 425 degrees, will not cook steaks, never hot enough. I called charbroil and lady said should get hotter, she had me try several things, no change. She had a new regulator sent out. Put it on, no change. Tried another new tank, no change. I called charbroil and the guy said will not go over 450 degrees. As it was over 3 months now, went to Lowe's and they said there is nothing they will do. Called charbroil and said all they will do is give me a $75.00 towards a new charbroil. This grill is rated 36,000 BTU. I have another home with a charbroil, and it gets up two 650 degrees in less than 10 minutes and it is rated at 40,000 BTU. Got no help so going to the dump. No more charbroil for me.
