I have had a great experience with crisp chat
I have had a great experience so far with crisp. I already have a chatbot connected to claude ai but I needed the live chat part so that staff could easily respond when they are available. Crisp not only made it possible for the free plan to cover everything, they even provide web hooks that can be used to connect it to our bot and even better, they provided great support (knowing I was on the free plan and likely going to stay on it) that totally got it working for me. I really appreciate a company that stands by all their products and even their free ones. And makes their free ones available for developers to use.

They intentionnaly degrade the free plan quality for you to take a paid plan. They systematically block your account 24h after you create it for "abuse".

Suspended Within 24 Hours — Disappointing Experience for a Legitimate Small Business
I moved from Gorgias to Crisp based on a recommendation and honestly, the experience has been disappointing from the very first day. After spending hours setting everything up on my Shopify store and getting the live chat working correctly, my account was suddenly suspended overnight without warning. As a small business owner, losing access to live chat means potentially losing sales and customer trust in real time. What made the situation worse was being told that my business category (“adult / sexual wellness”) was likely the reason for the suspension, despite being a fully legal and registered Australian business. I immediately provided my website, business description, ABN verification, and company documents, yet my account remained inaccessible while I was told the responsible team was “offline until tomorrow morning.” For a company providing customer support tools, the lack of urgency and understanding was extremely frustrating. Small businesses rely on responsive service, especially when live chat directly impacts conversions and customer communication. I stayed awake late trying to resolve the issue because I care about providing the best experience to my own customers — unfortunately I didn’t feel the same level of care from Crisp. The support staff themselves were polite, but the overall process, automated suspension, lack of transparency, and inability to quickly verify a legitimate business made this a very poor onboarding experience. At this stage, I’ll most likely move back to Gorgias, where I never experienced issues like this.

Run, don't walk away. 99% sure this is run by one guy in is grandmas basement and vibe coded the whole thing using Grok. Support is lackluster to say the least. Just use their own AI agent for a few minutes and that should tell you everything you need to know
Misleading free plan and nearly impossible to delete your account
I signed up for Crisp expecting a free chat widget with basic automated responses based on what their pricing page advertises. What I got was a basic widget with virtually no functionality — every feature that makes a chat widget actually useful (automated responses, away messages, AI agent, chat triggers) is locked behind paid plans starting at $45/month. As a small business owner I was looking for a simple free solution to handle common customer questions automatically. Crisp's free plan cannot do this at all. The "free" plan is essentially just a blinking chat button on your website that does nothing unless you're sitting at your computer waiting to respond manually — which defeats the entire purpose. To make matters worse, when I decided to delete my account it was made incredibly difficult. You cannot simply delete your account — you must first delete your workspace, which requires typing your full website URL to confirm, and even then the system blocks you with error messages about workspace ownership. What should take 30 seconds took significant time and frustration. I truly regret signing up. If you are a small business looking for a genuinely free chat solution with auto-responses, look elsewhere. Crisp is not it.

It is a very bad service who does not want to delete my account. I have tried it multiple times and I still receiving emails from them. I tried to unsubscribe and I am in circles. I have emailed and they respond but do not talk about what I am looking for.
