This is the absolute WORST internet…

Reviewed on 2021-05-18T16:54:33

This is the absolute WORST internet service I’ve ever had. Super slow and that’s when it does work.I’ve called customer care a week straight due to my internet dropping service. I even had two technicians come out, the second time he swapped the modem and it’s still dropping service. A tech was supposed to come out today but NEVER showed up! I’m OVER this service it’s extremely terrible!!!

All around frustrating

Reviewed on 2020-06-11T15:49:09

I've been a Earthlink customer for 5 years. Before this year, there was only one time where the customer service experience left a bad memory. Now, it's just gotten worse. As of June 11th, not only has Earthlink changed the payment method on my account without my knowledge but they've been over charging me for the last 2 months. For almost 5 years I've been paying my Earthlink bill using my Visa debit card. My old one expired in 5/20 and I received a new Visa debit card from my bank. During May, not only was I told that my card was no longer accepted by Earthlink but I was advised to set up a payment method of a bank draft. Which I did on May 7th by giving them my bank account number and my routing number. On May 8th, I received my regular billing invoice. At the bottom it stated my bill would be increasing by $5. There was no reason or statement as to why, so I contacted customer service to find out. Was told by a, "James T" that it was, "Due to rising costs within their company" and it would affect all "Earthlink customers OR just those with DSL." I never got an exact reason behind the raise by James later told me that if I wanted to be exempt from the raise, he could do that for me and my bill would go back to the $39.95 it was prior. On May 15th, I received 2 different emails from Earthlink. One stating my billing statement of $44.95 was available online, and the other stating my billing statement of $55.26 was available online. Why my bill increased by a whole $10, I had no idea but I paid the full amount anyway. June 8th, I spoke to the same rep from before, James T, to check the balance on my account. He stated I had no outstanding balance on my account and the next invoice I would receive, would be my billing invoice for July, on July 7th. I had been logging into my Earthlink account everyday since the beginning of June to check my billing information. Payment method was still set up as "Bank Draft" and my balance was still 0.00. June 11th, checked my account and saw there was a balance of $60.26. I also saw that my payment method was, "Check" and my invoice method was "Postal Mail". Contacted customer support immediately and was told by "Ryan S" that their billing department had made all of these changes the morning of June 11th and that, "Your 06/08/2020 payment was return and hence you have charged $15 payment return fee since your payment was return our back office team changed the payment from checking to check method." I remember a couple of years back I fell on hard times financially, and couldn't pay my bill on time. I was literally harassed by one of their customer service reps and was told if I didn't pay my bill by a certain time, I would be sent to a collection agency. Now, they don't notify you at all when there's a billing problem and just overcharge you instead. Since they switched my payment method to check, now I'll get charged $4 extra dollars for billing invoices because they send them through Postal mail. After an hour long conversation with Ryan, I submitted a one time payment of $46.03, which is $2 more than my original $44.95 bill and was told by Ryan that he would waive the remaining $14.23 from my account. Which he did, thankfully. He suggested I get in contact with support by phone to update my payment information but when I did, I was told once again, that my debit card wasn't accepted by them and I needed an actual credit card. I stated I wouldn't be setting up a payment method and instead make a one time payment each month through my debit card. The rep told me that was okay and that I make sure to pay my bill before the billing date, so I wouldn't have to pay any other fees. I've filed a complaint with the BBB about this and I've been keeping record of all my conversations with each representative, as well as all the emails with every charge. I'm also looking into other internet services in my area. Earthlink is just becoming too much of a hassle for me at this point.

Stay away at all costs!

Reviewed on 2020-04-06T18:55:33

I was one of Earthlink’s earliest customers, at a time when it was cutting edge. I’m still a customer but Earthlink is now a shadow of the former company. They can’t even do basic email right. Because I’ve had my email address with them for basically forever it would be a huge pain to shift over to a different email address. But if Earthlink gets even just a bit worse I probably, finally will. I’d rate them at less than one star, btw — perhaps 1/4 of a star.

These people use paid companies to sale…

Reviewed on 2019-08-09T18:47:51

These people use paid companies like to sale there service. The paid company like I got called inmyarea.com.These company's people get paid for selling you internet service. They will tell you everything just to get you to sign up right away. They are not honest. I was on a call requesting information on Earth link. After being transferred twice , I think they realized they did not have service and told me they were going to transfer me there business service department , instead they transferred me to a Comcast salesman. I think they get credit for all new account. But I did not want transferred to comcast without knowing it.

No matter how many domains I block, I still get over 100 spams a day

No matter how many domains I block, no matter how many times i raise the issue with Earthlink,I still get 100 spams a day. Latest exasperated letter. Dear Earthllink, Look at my inbox. Have you fired your entire filter department? Are you asleep? If you are still alive back there, please send me a one sentence reply why you obviously have no spam filters in place. I obviously know better than to expect a reply, but if you deign to send me one, it might satisfy my curiosity.
