What is eMusic's Revenue?

eMusic's estimated revenue for 2024 is $65.67M.

What does eMusic do?

Founded in 1998 with the goal of being the #1 music service and brand for independent-minded fans, eMusic has served a community of 50 million users with personal music journeys leading to a deeper connection to music and artists. As the industry has shifted and evolved, we've had a front row seat to changes in the industry that have hijacked value and revenue from the artists and placed many music services in jeopardy. The eMusic Blockchain project is a unique opportunity to help solve these supply-side issues that are restricting the earning potential for artists, as well as providing a much-needed degree of transparency in payments and fan data and promises to bring artists and listeners closer than ever before. Built on Ethereum, eMusic's distribution platform will eliminate the need for multiple intermediaries to insert themselves into the process of distributing music from artist to music services and fans, providing full visibility into all interactions with an asset. This gives artists more control over their music and allows them to get paid more efficiently and automatically — thereby accruing more value for the creator and owner. Site used to be good, now it's NOT worth it at all

Reviewed on 2020-12-13T18:47:38

This site used to be good 10+ years ago. Now, it's super hard to find anything to download since none of the record labels want to deal with them. That, and they don't care about correctly labeling artists; I told them like 50 times that one artist had other artists included on their page and they never once fixed or addressed it. The worst part about eMusic? They don't EVER remind you to use your credits, and your credits don't carry over. They purposely give you no way to get reminders about downloading your songs because they want you to miss your monthly allotment because you already paid and won't get anything. I'm on a grandfathered plan that gets me cheap music but it's not at all cheap since I always miss my monthly amount by like one day so I lose out on like $30 each month of credits. Super annoying. Just stay away from them. They didn't even send me an email saying I was billed my yearly membership, so I missed two months of credits right off the bat. Over 10 years ago I would have recommended them, but with the content they have now it's not worth the trouble of missing monthly credits because they won't tell you to use them. I'd give them 1 star now, but I gave 2 just because I remember what it used to be like.

eMusic's predatory practices

Reviewed on 2018-03-05T22:28:33

eMusic managed to renew my annual subscription even though the card I had on file with them was expired,by going through the credit card company to put the charge through on the new card! I did not authorize this. When I saw the charge I immediately contacted eMusic to cancel the subscription. They refused to do this and would only agree to cancel the subscription on 2/28/2019! I consider this predatory practice and warn anyone who signs up with them to beware. Spotify is so superior to eMusic that I don't know why anyone would want to bother with an eMusic subscription as it's currently configured. It's cheaper, and there is a far vaster selection of music.

Once great now rather poor

Reviewed on 2016-04-10T17:57:01.186

I was a member for years and it has a great selection of music. However, in recent times the quality of service has plummeted to the point I had to cancel as the site became unusable. The necessity to use their own downloader was always slight problem but when that downloader ceased to work I could no longer access music from them and there was no solution available to me. After multiple attempts to contact them spread over a period of months (I was still paying the subscription but with no benefit for this) they did not even make one attempt to respond or fix the issue. A few years ago when previously I had attempted to contact them they responded promptly. As a result of throwing good money to bad for four months I cancelled my subscription. In conclusion if it works for you then fine but if there is a problem do not expect their awful customer services to ever respond.

no rolling over of credits - thieves!

Reviewed on 2012-05-11T05:23:57

i thought i had cancelled my subscription but they continously took money from my account. It wouldn't be so bad if the credits accumulated, but they don't roll over credits from month to month, essentailly they are stealing your money. Very poor form, I will definitely be avoiding them in the future! They offered me a months worth of credits for the inconvenience. What about the other 10 + months? They also said the rolling over of credits is "frustrating". (see screengrab) It's more than frustrating! It's daylight robbery!

AVOID EMUSIC

Reviewed on 2010-10-20T08:43:35

Problems ahead I have had bad experience with eMusic. After cancelling subscription, they continued withdrawing money on my account. And no email notification about this even though you continued to get the advertising from them. After cancellation, my creditcard information was leaked to other people and $1000 dollars was stolen from my bank acocunt. Since I have not used my card other places, I suspect eMusic being responsible. My recoomandation: AVOID emusic
