Unreliable

Reviewed on 2021-05-15T03:55:58

Unreliable, seems to be all guesswork as well as rigid judgment on keywords. If I were to base what I should buy on it,I wouldn't be able to get the right products

Fakespot screwing over the businesses they claim to be helping

Reviewed on 2021-03-31T20:36:00

My small business was disastrously affected by COVID so I had to adapt with the times and place a few listings of new products we've developed since.Fakespot has erroneously given "F" and "D" grades on my products because my few product reviews don't have the right keywords for their bots. I've emailed their support twice over the last month but no response. I would hire a lawyer to litigate but I don't have the resources. Great work Fakespot! You're screwing over the businesses you claim to be helping.

It is ironic that Fakespot is fake

Reviewed on 2021-03-25T09:15:09

It is ironic that Fakespot is fake. Their analysis seems mostly guesswork, that's based on whether reviewers review other products, and some wording combinations, and whether the same people write reviews for the same company. As an author who doesn't give af about reviews, I have never wasted my time soliciting them. There's a comment at the end of each of my books asking the reader to write one. But, I think we all know they mean so little. As a reader who doesn't trust reviews, I read the summary of a book, check some of the top reviews, look at a couple of my book sites to see what others say, then read it. If the book doesn't marry up with the reviews, it automatically gets a 1 for trying to deceive me. As consumers, we've become accustomed to reading each one, make up our minds whether they're real or fake, and continue based on our own hunches. Fakespot trying to win us over as the tool that helps us do that in a snap, is a joke. Wouldn't be surprised if legal action isn't taken against these fraudsters. Also, it is suspicious that many products from China are rated quite highly...

It's easier just to use common sense.

Reviewed on 2021-02-09T15:09:03

Products are given D and F ratings for no apparent reason, no details are really given as to why they consider them fake.Websites that are legit are flagged as fake. Overall more trouble than it's worth.

Their algorithms are nothing but guesswork

Reviewed on 2021-02-07T14:35:58

I added Fakespot as an extension and aturally I ran it on my company's products first, knowing that all Amazon reviews are legit as they have been built up slowly and naturally over the years and we've never solicited reviews (the only reviews that we worked on was participating in Amazon's Vine program for two of our products). When our ratings were coming back as Ds and even one F (we also got one C), I ran it on Amazon on three companies I know that operate with integrity and don't solicit fake reviews. These are companies I have either worked for or know the owners very well. They all had poor ratings also (Ds and Cs, though no Fs and a few Bs), and at that point I realized Fakespot has no idea how to actually spot legitimate reviews or not. They are all run on algorithms with far too much guess work and not enough fact. I promptly removed the extension.

False Claims about Reviewing Shopify…

Reviewed on 2021-01-19T05:50:08

False Claims about Reviewing Shopify Stores with No Data. I used to use their rating app on Chrome, but realized after doing some more digging that it isn't that accurate, but it also doesn't actually compile any data on Shopify stores that it claims to rate. This is completely a disservice to anyone trying to use their services. If you want to get into the why's, I think it's because they have more desire to put companies down than to help with valid ratings based on the language they're using in their marketing. This isn't a legitimate company.

Nonsense Ratings

Reviewed on 2021-01-19T00:21:02

I have used Fakespot for several years as a consumer and the more I have used it the more I have become convinced it's nonsense.More often than not the ratings defy common sense. Forget this ridiculous app and use your own noggin. Go straight to the 1 star reviews and read a bunch of those and see if they make sense, even if they are in the extreme minority.
