Earphones and calmer night - sound upgrade!

Reviewed on 2021-05-25T11:36:52

Their earphones are really upgrading sound. It feels as I have a hi fi system in my ears. Calmer night is even better that the original for me as an autistic person.Sound comes smoothly to me and I can enjoy things that used to be annoying, such as cars or people passing near me. With the original it felt as I was missing a lot, but I truly recommend them for really loud situations such as marching or using a drill.

Flare Calmer Mini (Don't bother)

Reviewed on 2021-05-19T14:47:20

I bought Flare Calmer Mini for my child with ASD and sound sensitivity. They arrived and are essentiallysmall silicon like material with unfiltered holes in the middle that essentially do nothing other than narrow the ear canal slightly by the thickness of the material. My child claimed they made no difference. Being sceptical of his claim and still hopeful for the product, I used an online sound frequency generator to try them out properly. My son, my wife and I all tried them at a frequency that "bothered" us both with and without the Flare Calmer Minis fitted. There was no discernible difference in volume or frequency. This product is utterly useless and serves no purpose other than to rely on a placebo effect, something not likely to work with autistic children.

Calmer ear buds

Reviewed on 2021-05-19T10:50:27

I've only had my calmer ear buds for a few days, I tried them out in the supermarket yesterday and they helped me so much.I find all the noise quite overwhelming at times but they made everything feel calmer and less overwhelming. They feel a but strange at first because it's something in your ears, but once you get used to it they're fine and they do exactly what they say

So thankful a friend referred me!

Reviewed on 2021-05-09T01:43:57

A friend sent me a link to Flare Audio's website. While their products are mainly advertised for people with autism and other sensory processing issues,my friend thought they might be helpful for my noise sensitivity due to Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). I ordered the Flare Calmer buds off of Amazon.ca and when they arrived the next day, I tried them out. They didn't really seem to make much difference at first, but as I kept wearing them, I noticed that the TV wasn't as annoying, I didn't hear the clock ticking behind me, and while I could still hear everything, it didn't seem as loud. A few days later I was driving with them in, reached up and gently pulled one out (other hand on the wheel, of course!). The difference in sound level and pitch of the wind over my car and my wheels on the road was astounding. Later that evening at home I took them out in preparation for bed and all of a sudden the sounds of the kitchen that had been blocked out were there again and did the world ever sound loud and overwhelming compared to what it had been like just moments before! I just have to be careful putting them in; I'm used to wearing earplugs, which only work if they're deep in the ear canal. I forget that I don't have to push these in as far as they can go for them to be effective.

Highly recommended for anyone with sound processing issues.

I saw flare audio advertised on Facebook. I was a little bit sceptical about this product but theyhave a very reasonable price of £19.99 and a money back guarantee (I was also reassured to see that I could pay via PayPal). I purchased these because I have trouble processing sounds as I am autistic and tend to get overwhelmed by a buildup of audio. I purchased the flare audio calm night (in black, with a little rose gold metal capsule to keep them safe in). What sets these apart is that they take out the harshness of the sounds around you but enable you to take part in a conversation. They have helped me to keep calmer around noises that would begin to stress me out, for example like a car sitting outside with the engine on. They did initially feel a bit uncomfortable but I have got used to them now. The night ones are made of a softer silicone for night wear (and to sleep in) however I have found them just as useful in the day. Basically for anyone on the fence on this product I would give them a go as they have really helped me.

Calmers and migraines

Reviewed on 2021-05-06T20:40:55

I recently bought Calmer and Calmer Night because I have very sensitive hearing and also migraines.Sounds can trigger migraines and also I find sounds very painful during an attack. The Night edition has become an absolute great companion for attacks because they filter sounds while allowing me to still listen to calm music or audiobooks so I can focus somewhere outside of my pain, something which normal earplugs won't let me do. The normal Calmers are super helpful on stressful days or when I feel that my nerves "migrainy" and may overreact. Street noises etc. just are less jarring while I go about my daily business. I wouldn't go as far as claiming they prevent migraine attacks but they definitely help guarding my nerves a bit and minimize unnecessary noise exposure. On days with a lot of Zoom meetings or phone calls, I wear them most of the time because those talks become less "edgy" in the ear. Both versions are very comfy to wear, the Night version is softer but the normal Calmers adjust nicely as well. I'm very happy with the purchase and I'd totally recommend buying if you also suffer from migraines and sensitive hearing.

Wow factor

Our daughter (14) has autism/add, she had been home since November 2020 because of stress caused by her autism. She hears voices in her head all day. This week we received Calmer and she tried them on immediatly. Wow! What a difference. She had to get used to Calmer for a few hours but then forgot she was even wearing them. The difference is as described, the sounds are less intens. Now after a few days she puts rhem in after waking up and seems to be more energized. She even wanted to go out and try to go to a shop. Thanfull for giving my daughter some piece of mind??
