What does Focusrite Audio Engineering Limited do?

We'll be honest – Focusrite is a pretty great place to work. Incorporating both the Focusrite and Novation brands, we make music easy to make, from bedroom DJs to the greatest show on earth. Everyone who works here has an enormous passion for music: as it says on our website, sound is everything. We take that very seriously – though we have a lot of fun doing it. As the number one selling audio interface brand worldwide, Focusrite has an illustrious, prestigious, and, let's face it, cool history. Alongside Novation, the hardware and software that we develop plays an instrumental (see what we did there?) role in shaping the sound of modern music. From amateur to pro, our goal is to help musicians to make their music the very best it can be. Music has always been an exciting thing to be involved with, and that's not about to change. We embrace its evolution, and that means being open to new ideas. Our whole business is structured to let everyone contribute and be heard at all levels, and we make sure it's a fun place to work. Company hack-days, external visits – we're all about innovation, fresh thinking and great, great products. (Plus, you get a free lunch in the canteen. No really.) We work hard. We are professional. We select really, really talented people. And we absolutely love our work. So if you think you can bring something new to the mix, we'll be looking forward to hearing from you.

Pretty decent stuff with warranty and free shipping

Reviewed on 2021-05-24T19:32:24

So I ordered my interface a year ago. It came after 3 months due to the Pandemic. Not blaming them, cuz literally no flights were coming to my country. It was a refurb unit but looked immaculate. After 6 months of use, there are slight noise in the left channel when moving any of the dials (volume or gain) if anything is being played through the headphone out. Not really an issue as I don't constantly move the dials while listening to stuff. The customer service was good, on point, responsive and most importantly no BS. The reason why I bought directly from Focusrite was cuz of free shipping. I wish they shipped through ordinary mail instead of only Fed-Ex cuz fedex has higher fees when you need to clear the stuff from the customs. I would have had to pay 10 bux in import fess on my 100 dollar interface, but FedEx added a 25 usd charge :( other than that I'm pretty pleased with Focusrite store

Horrendous shipping delays

Here in the States, I've waited over a month and a half for an interface. That just seems like an insane amount of time, even with the pandemic.

Exceptional customer support

Reviewed on 2021-04-15T10:00:25

As far as tech support goes, Focusrite are a text book example of how it should be done. A fault with a second hand unit, out of warranty, and they still connected with teamviewer and managed to resolve the issue there and then. There are very few companies who would bother with an older unit. I can't attest as to the quality of other hardware from them, but I do know that they are willing and very well able to help if there is a problem.

I tried the Clarett 2 USB, it got returned.

Reviewed on 2021-04-14T11:52:03

I tried the Clarett 2 USB, it was quickly returned. Don’t listen to all the ‘paid’ magazine and YouTube reviewers. It's a fine interface (sound quality wise) for the price but the Focusrite Control mixer app. is the most horrible piece of software imaginable. It’s a real pain having to use third party ‘mixers’ between the interface and DAW at best, but at least some are ‘logically’ designed and can mostly be left alone unless some major routing is necessary. Almost everything with the Clarett requires the use of Focusrite Control, obviously done to keep the hardware costs down. A few things about the interface: No pad available for high output line devices. Despite the 57dB mic gain available I had to crank it up to 9 with a Rode NT1! (I owned a Behringer 204 HD and only had to turn the gain to 12 o’clock to get the same level in my DAW with the same mic.) Headphone out mirrors 1 and 2… so no way to create a separate headphone mix. Black plastic case is a fingerprint/grease magnet. Headphone output really couldn’t do justice to high impedance (250 ohm) headphones and was again… no better than a cheap Behringer! I could go on but you get the gist (I’ve since purchased a Symphony ‘desktop’ and it’s phone outs are spectacular). Perhaps a Gen. 2 (or 3) is in the works?

If you are looking for a great offer…

If you are looking for a great offer with a decent budget, Focusrite is the way to go. I have purchased the Mic /Interface bundle in the past and still have it working in pristine condition. It came with a Tripod and a free lifetime subscription to Protools First, which is basically a trial version of Protools , which comes with plenty of options. For a starting artist this is a great purchase, as the microphone is pretty basic, the interface is about average. But be honest when starting off its not always about the investments on the equipment as you are learning still. Good to use for rough drafts and getting use to that right tone. It does not come with a pop filter but you can get one for about 15$ I purchased one at guitarcenter.com Which also sells this bundle!

Poor Quality - NO SUPPORT

Reviewed on 2020-06-30T14:56:58

Bought Scarlett 214. Installed up to date drivers, restarted, connected USB. Works then it doesn't work, the power light goes on and off at random; sometimes crashing my PC! Have uninstalled/reinstalled a number of times, gone through Focusrite's procedures to the letter. Still sound is hit and miss. The thing is useless! Contacted Focusrite's support by email over a week ago - NO RESPONSE! Need a DAW? DO NOT BUY FOCUSRITE!! They take your money, provide sub standard hardware/software, then ignore your requests for help. I'm getting rid of this piece of junk and buying a DAW from a professional company who care about their product users.
