I should have stayed with Orange 1gb fibre

They leave me wondering if I should go back to Orange. I changed to free because they had an insane offer on 10gb.What I found was: (a) higher latency on free, 15-17ms means pages loaded faster before the upgrade (b) I had two outages last year totalling 1-2 weeks without internet (c) the freebox Delta is an OK router with some cool features like SFP+ but theres no option to leave it out completely to use your own router (d) network performance changes with the time of day. In peak times sometimes I'm down to 300-500mbit/s (wired, multiple speed test servers)read more

What a pity!
They were not able to connect my broadband after three months. So I called them for the termination.Afterwards they were really bold to ask me for 49 Euros.
I recalled. All sorted over the phone call. But after a while I received another request.

I cancelled our internet service as we had sold our house in France and were not buying another property there.I returned all the equipment and requested that the cancellation fee of €49 should not be applicable as we could not subscribe to Free from the UK and we had subscribed to them over the last 15 years. They agreed but said I needed to provide one of 5 documents - house sale or rental agreement, work permit, French consular permit or certificat de mutation professional! They also stated that the documents must be in French!
In my opinion they are acting like timeshare sale sharks.read more

If I could give these clown -5 stars I would.
We cancelled our box 1 week later, they still sent the box, which we returned the next morning, now 2 months later we are getting billed, we are going down to their shop in Limoges later today to make a complaint, and have asked the Bank that the Direct Debit be cancelled, if they don't we'll be terminating the account.
I can see this going to court!!!!

Truly awful "customer service"
Reviewed on 2020-10-03T12:30:38
If you want to subscribe online to a standard service and you don't need to deal with real people except perhaps during installation, this company offers an inexpensive way to get internet/TV/telephone. If you are trying to do something non-standard or make a mistake, requiring you to talk to a human, then God help you. The Free "customer service" is the worst business service I have ever tried to use in 40 years of using TV, telephone and internet connections in the UK and France. Not only is it almost impossible to contact customer service, but when you finally get to talk to someone, they can be outright hostile and rude. We had the misfortune to change our mind and subscribe to Freebox Pop instead of Freebox Delta. We had not received the equipment but thought we could just phone and ask to change the box. Nope, we were told that we had to write a letter to be sent through the post asking to remove the subscription application, and that it would take 30 days. We could then apply again online. We tried to persuade customer service to just swap the Freebox in the order and they suggested contacting the installation department. On phoning the latter, my wife very politely explained our problem but the response was shockingly hostile. The agent actually shouted down the phone at her in an unbelievable tirade that was truly unacceptable. Don't think about complaining, there is nowhere to complain that will take you seriously. You have to follow their bureaucratic rules or you will get hostile treatment. Coming from the UK, this seems anathema for the success of a business. I think telephony in France is in serious need of real competition from a company that values customers because from our previous experience, both Orange and SFR are also very deficient for customer service.read more
