From placing the order to the delightful experience of opening beautiful packaging this has been a great experience.Now i own a beautifully crafted Moleskin Diary cover which is a joy to open every day. It houses the diary, fountain pen, notebook ( also Halen) and all sorts of bits and pieces. An heirloom ! Thank you.

First of all, I’m shocked people are giving this company a one star rating because of their OWN country’s import charges.That is completely unfair and has nothing to do with Galen Leather whatsoever.
All items are handmade in Turkey. I ordered from Australia and my parcel arrived in 2 weeks - so quick for international post!
Everything from start to finish was high quality. The products are so well made and beautifully packaged (all environmentally friendly). They even included a pen stretcher for my pen holder which was perfect as I needed it to fit my new Twsbi.

I ordered an Everyday Notebook.
I was actually really impressed and had a good experience.I live in the US and shipping was a little more than I expected, but the tracking number worked.
1) The website is beautiful and easy to navigate. The company has an interesting story and seems very honest.
2) There are products for every price range.
3) My order was very nicely packaged in bubble wrap. It came with neat little surprise gifts and the notebook itself comes in a lovely presentation box for safe keeping, with gold lettering and a magnetic flap-style closure.
4) I received emails from Galen Leather Co. throughout my experience, including an email to check that my order had arrived safely and that I was satisfied. I did receive a personal response when it seemed the order dispatch was delayed a bit. I also received a reply and request for review after my (happy) order receipt response.
5) I was thanked numerous times for my order!
6) Most if not all of their products are handmade.

Beautiful Pen but 100% shipping costs makes it sour

So I ordered the Cognac Kaweco and Leather case from Galen in early march. It was £30 for the pair,plus about £8 for the shipping. It arrived just under two weeks later and was absolutely lovely; included a nice drawstring bag with it, an evil eye and several other goodies.
What was less lovely was the £17.50 import duties I had to pay. I'm not exactly sure where they came up with that number, but the invoice sheet had the price I paid as a bit lower than reality. Maybe that was the cause, as some other reviewers have suggested. In any case, I paid it, as it is a christmas present for my girlfriend.
So overall, incredibly pretty products but just consider them to be 100% more than the price on the website, and then decide if you still want it.

purchasing any item from Galen Leather please make sure you are aware of the shipping costs.Despite my invoice including the cost of shipping, the delivery company UPS requested a further £30 English pounds before I was allowed my parcel. Make sure you make enquiries before purchasing! I was advised by Yusuf that this is mentioned on their website. Clearly I had missed that section. I advise you to be careful. The product I purchased is lovely. It is a shame that it has been ruined for me paying a lot more money than expected. I will make it my mission to ensure that everyone is aware on all social platforms. I know I can’t be the first to suffer from this!

zip portfolio

I purchased the zip portfolio in crazy horse brown in the A5 size.. I am extremely happy with my experience with Galen Leather.There was excellent communication with Galen Leather from the onset of placing the order right through to delivery. I have seen some people complain about wait time, which is not fair. This is a small company that makes their products by hand. Their products are not mass produced in big factories with cheap components. Overall it took about 2-3 weeks from order to delivery. Keep in mind this was delivery from Turkey to Canada, so there is delivery services and customs officials also included in the process.
When I placed my order, I received acknowledgement by email and advised of a projected delivery time. Within a couple of days there was a follow-up to advise my portfolio was now being made. It was just a few days later that I was notified it had been shipped. It actually arrived quicker than I expected.
The portfolio arrived very well packaged, the gift box being wrapped in bubble wrap. The gift box itself was made of sturdy cardboard and printed in the classic Galen Leather style. Included in the packaging also included personal touches such care instructions and the name of the craftsman, and a postcard with a lovely handwritten sentiment. The glass Evil Eye charm was there too! It is now proudly attached to my portfolio.
Now onto the portfolio. Very well made! I love the vintage styling and the buff finish of the leather which will age nicely. The zipper is metal, including the zipper mechanism. Often times in manufacturing you will see a metal mechanism on a plastic zipper. Eventually the metal will degrade the plastic zipper causing failure. The zipper on this portfolio will last the lifetime of the portfolio as long as both are looked after.
Some people worry about the zipper scratching their pens as they slide them in and out. I use fountain pens, and take care of them. The pen holder is removable, so no worries. If one uses the larger elastics to the side, there is potential to scratch pens on the zipper sliding them in and out here, but you can very easily fold the zipper back and out of the way before you remove your pen. Too easy! Doing this will not cause any stress on the stitching.
There is a little key ring. I have too many keys to attach to it, but I may use it to attach a little data stick or whatever my imagination comes up with!
When fully loaded with a hard back planner or thick planner and pens, it is a snug fit, however as the portfolio is completely leather, there will be some stretch over time. Better snug now, than sloppy loose down the road. I will most likely carry soft sided notebooks in mine - just my preference. The stitching thread appears to be nylon, though I am not 100% sure. The stitching is even, neat, and tidy throughout. All edges are clean, overall, this portfolio is well made and worth every penny.
Galen Leather is a small family run artisan company well worth supporting!
