My colleague has been treated like dirt. Just check out the reviews in detail. You'll find long detailed 1* reviews over recent months from genuine customers, and then lots of suspiciously short badly-written 5* reviews that seem to be all written on the same days, all from new Trustpilot customers.. I'll say it straight, these look like fraudulent reviews.

Awful, inflexible company

Reviewed on 2021-05-19T11:40:48

Awful company. Ended up cancelling and just paying more rent up front. They may be OK for someone on a "traditional payroll",but self-employed through a personal service company? Forget it. The accountant's reference that confirmed I had well over double the income they needed to see was rejected. This isn't the 1970s. People aren't all on PAYE with big employers any more.

Appalling website and lacklustre employee service. Communication generic and use of computer bots only good for simple basic use.Anything out of the ordinary is too much for them to handle.

Awful, mortifying experience with goodlord

Reviewed on 2021-05-12T11:26:51

My experience with Goolord referencing has been stressful and mortifying, to say the least. It is impossible to speak with a real person and the only way to contact them is through a bot on their website/online platform. They've been causing problems with my income. On top of my research scholarship (which, by itself, is more than enough to meet the affordability criteria for the room I'm trying to rent), I have a job that pays hourly. Their system has no way of recognising or accommodating hourly-based jobs. My referee has provided all the info requested and explained that the number of hours I work can vary each semester (I am a Teaching Assistant at the University). They've been pestering my referee with multiple emails a day and asked me to upload a copy of my contract and all of my payslips since I started the job. They're showing no understanding of my situation whatsoever and their black and white system is impossible to deal with. The whole point of a third-party agency like Goodlord is to speed up the referencing process and they've been making my life impossible. If your letting agency uses Goodlord, please spare yourself unnecessary stress and don't put yourself through this.

Terrible

Reviewed on 2021-05-11T13:38:11

Terrible. I agree with the chap below, they want so much information, I'd raise my eyebrows if I wasasked to provide all of this info for wanting a mortgage let alone giving it to act as guarantor for my son for uni accommodation (my son who has thousands more in savings than me by the way and can well afford his own accommodation). They are also trying to pressurize me into giving them access to my online bank account - not gonna happen, outrageous of them to ask.

AVOID. AVOID. AVOID!

Reviewed on 2021-05-11T13:05:16

If, like me, you are self employed and acting as a Guarantor for your son/daughter's Uni accommodation,my advice to you is to ask them to find a different landlord, or ask their landlord to use an alternative service to Goodlord. In terms of information requirements for proof of earnings you may as well give them the keys to your house and let them freely rummage around everything you own. They want everything! Not just bank statements, proof of ID and the odd utility bill. They want passports, driving licenses, business accounts, tax returns, proof of submission of tax returns (?) and after all that, they still want more! 'That's the wrong type of tax calculation, this isn't the proof we want' and on and on. You can't contact them unless you want to hold for 25 minutes, and then they don't understand and say they'll email you back. A truly appalling, lazy, poor, intrusive service. I have acted as a Guarantor many, many times and never had to go through such an over zealous, intrusive process. DO NOT GET INVOLVED!
