What does The Goodwood Group do?

Goodwood is England's greatest sporting estate. Seat of the Dukes of Richmond for over three centuries, the family has always welcomed their friends and guests to share in their love of sport. Horseracing, motor racing, golf, flying, shooting and cricket have all been introduced by enthusiastic family members since the first Duke came to Goodwood in 1697. Within its 12,000 acres, Goodwood is home to one of the largest lowland organic farms in England, a famous Battle of Britain airfield, a celebrated racecourse, a historic motor circuit, two golf courses and one of the oldest cricket grounds in the country, all centred around Goodwood House with its magnificent Regency interiors. The Goodwood Estate has evolved over the past 20 years to meet the challenges of the 21st century, reviving the motor racing events, investing in the horseracing and historic Downland golf course, creating an organic farm, buying back the Goodwood Hotel, and restoring Goodwood House to its former Regency glory. With the creation of the Festival of Speed and the Goodwood Revival, as well as Glorious Goodwood, it is now one of the great centres of sport and entertainment in the world. Our vision is to be the world's leading luxury experience company. We value entrepreneurial spirit, attention to detail and a sheer love of life. By sticking to these values we have built an exceptional organisation. Our team of nearly 600 people are asked to deliver a great deal as we strive for perfection. In return for their investment in what we do, Goodwood offers an exceptional environment to work in; 12,000 acres of ancient woodland and parkland in the South Downs National Park; a unique mix of activities, a warmth towards the team's friends and families and a strong sense of collective success.

Gagged by Goodwood

Reviewed on 2020-10-26T14:52:53

More of an employee than a customer review this, but just to give an insight into the ethics of this place.Worked for the Goodwood Actors Guild for a couple of lovely years then, this summer did a gig with them, seconded to Secret Cinema, for a Drive In event. All went well I did my acting work impeccably as always only to have all my shifts cancelled suddenly. This was odd but was assured they were cutting down on staff anyway. I then got a call a week later to say I had in fact allegedly, done something wrong/upset someone and was being effectley shelved. I dont know if my face didn't fit or something but not only was this utter rubbish but Goodwood lied to me in the first place, hoping to fob me off when they should have initially approached me to seek my side of things. And secondly, are now refusing to respond to my enquiries for further Information! A true suggestion of complicity in my view. At least Secret Cinema has responded regards opening a dialogue. Very weak. And as I say .. perhaps this will give some insight into how this place works and treats talented artists

Never judge a restaurant by it appearance.

Our party of four visited the Farmer,Butcher, Chef restaurant last Wednesday for what we had thought would be a very nice lunch. While the venue was pleasant and the staff amenable, What was served up as a meal was incredibly disappointing. The age of nouvelle surely has long since past! It wasn’t even appetising to look at and certainly was not a meal that one would expect from such an establishment. The pricing of their still and sparkling water, plus over priced soft drinks just added to the feeling of being taken for a ride. We just wonder how many people actually go there twice.

I have been really let down by…Goodwood Customer service

Reviewed on 2020-01-15T17:21:10

I have been really let down by Goodwood. I bought some vouchers on 21st Dec knowing there was a chance I would not get them before Xmas day.I finally got them on the 9th Jan. It’s not only the length of time it took but the lack of response to my mails enquiring when I would get my tickets. After mailing 3/4 times I got a response that someone would be in touch then i had to chase again. I have since had a couple of phone calls that I have missed but at no point has there been an apology. I have called back and been told that the person dealing was off and I was told yesterday that someone would call me today but again no call. You would expect a venue such as Goodwood wouldn’t have a better system for follow up and far better customer service.

I have visited Goodwood for many years, The House is an amazing place, and the events,Festival of Speed and the members meeting and simply some of the best motors sports events worldwide. Their merchandise is also top quality, and not a bad price when you consider the quality and the brand.

Great resource, lovely people, no pretence. You get what you pay for!

As a member of various Goodwood clubs for the last Decade I have a pretty good understanding of the estate.Just how many reviewers have walked naked out of the showers, rubbing their head with a towel, to find Lord March, the local MP and other dignitaries being shown round the changing facilities. I was greeted with a "Good Morning" from his Lordship. Anyway, Despite what the local whingers say, the Goodwood Estate is a force for good locally, they employ hundreds of people and are responsible for bringing millions of £ in to the local economy. Many excellent events are held free-of-charge and a lot of money is raised for local and national charities. The estate shelters a number of important wildlife species, including a critically endangered mouse (near the contentious Northern Bypass route btw), the Cork trees are interesting too. The Food at The Kennels and The Butcher Farmer, Chef is superb and the staff remember my name and my favourite tipple. I was surprised with a free glass of champagne on my birthday last year by the staff at The Kennels. They are lovely. The regular Kennels staff such as Maddy, Matt, Elissia, April, Andrea and Sophie et al, are brilliant and make the clubhouse seem like a home from home. Occasionally the seasonal staff can be a bit ...er...distant but I can forgive that. The Healthclub is lovely and quiet, the gym has no sweatty men grunting in front of the mirror. Everyone is polite. The Revival and Festival of Speed are world class events that bring an enormous volume of people (and traffic) much to the annoyance to the aforementioned whingers. The Estate management team are getting better at handling such popular events but I get the impression it is a steep learning curve. The Horseracing events are very popular but they have attracted the wrong crowd on occasion. You get Three demographics, 1. The Well-to-do with manners. 2. The Pretentious, obnoxious cheap-blue-suit-with-Orange-trophy-wife-brigade. and 3. everyone else that has a good time and leaves with a smile. I'll leave you to guess who starts fights and drinks too much. If I avoid certain events (with the number 2's, above) I'm a fan and probably always will be.
