There seems to be a common theme: They charge you for a renewal well in advance of your annual expiration date.In addition, if you look at your account and billing info, it tells you your expiration date but says nothing about their policy of charging you 15 days in advance, which they trot out when you notice a middle of the night email saying you've been charged and call them to cancel and get a refund. Can't be any more deceptive than that! Even worse, they charged me before the 15 days! It's time to get a class action against this fraud!
REPLY TO RESPONSE: I hope you do. I spent at least 45 minutes on chat with one of you reps yesterday on this and ended up feeling I had to write this review.read more
Shady auto renewal, but got partially refunded
Reviewed on 2021-04-24T18:31:25
As anybody here I got the same experience with the auto renewal. The second year they charged me trough PayPal and I didn't notice, than just in time before the auto renewal triggered again (3th year) I choose on my account to block it. Later I realized that they charged me anyway, I contact them and they say it was my mistake, that I just choose to don't renew the domain but the service stay active (basically same price for nothing).... (Update) To be honest, with my surprise( even though it needed long time of convincement), they have been pretty fair and they refunded the unused part of my last subscription,101$ out of 131$. They refunded me even though PayPal refused to help (WHAT A JOKE!!, I will not trust them anymore for any payment out of eBay) and in no time (of "investigation") approved the payment as legit and close the case with no further opportunity to reply.
Conclusion be aware that to cancel auto renewal of the domain doesn't mean close the contract with iPage and they will keep charging you with no notification, but it is not a proper scam, it is more like a shady move. On the other end DO NOT TRUST PAYPAL, they do nothing to protect you as a customer.read more

They can (and do) bill you forever…

Had an account with iPage 8 years ago so was surprised to get an email this week saying my account info.had been changed to the Republic of Moldova and would I click on a link to verify this new web domain I had supposedly purchased.
Obviously a scam so I contacted them immediately. Was told it's not a scam just a mistake.
Two days later they charge $83 to my Paypal account. Apparently once you sign up with them they can bill you for life with zero notification (It was just coincidence that I saw the Paypal charge while paying someone else).
I contact them again and tell my story for the second time. Was told it will be passed along to the fraud team and should hear in 24-48 hours. Three days later I get a patronizing email informing me that domain's once purchased can't be cancelled and they will not refund my money and I should stay safe and have a wonderful weekend, blah, blah, blah
So now it's on to contacting the fraud team at PayPal. Then the AG in Arizona where these scammers are based. I'm retired I have plenty of time.read more
ipage is horrible (update)
Reviewed on 2021-04-06T20:02:31
ipage is horrible. Every 90 says my SSL expires and my site visitors get the "get me out of here" message as if my site was a hacker site....This has been going on for 2 years and their answer is always "sorry." Their resolution is that I log in every 90 days and reset the SSL (which is ridiculous, but which I DID do to stop it happening... But it STILL expired). Sooo.... every 90 days my site goes down... then I spend 30 mins on chat fuming.. I am DONE with them. Absolutely pathetic.
UPDATE: After leaving this review a helpful member - Vitty - finally reached out to me. It's too early to tell if the problem has been resolved permanently, but I appreciate the professional way Vitty handled my complaint. It's a shame it couldn't have happened earlier, but will update this review accordingly if the problem is fixed permanently. Upgrading them from 1 to 2 stars for their efforts.read more
