My Kia Niro has been great. I got the first year it released and apart from a couple of bumps along the way,it's been a reliable car. The dealer tried to upsell me, and also tried to dissuade me from buying electric, maybe because their profit margin is lower, who knows? I wish I had gotten a different color other than black now though. Love the car. Service has been good too.read more

Dishonesty and Bad Business Practices from Kia

So, when I purchased by car from the Kia dealership, the finance manager told me that the $19K I would be financing would be at 6% interest, even though the advertised rate on their site is .9 to 2.9% and I was leaving a down payment of $11K. I balked. Well, they got it down to 4.5% and the finance manager said Kia corporate set the rates and it was out of his hands. I signed the papers even though I still wasn't happy with the %. The finance manager failed to charge my credit card before I left so legally/technically I could have said I already paid the down payment and all I would have had to do was show the signed papers. However, I'm not that kind of person. I did phone Kia Corporate Finance the very next day and spoke to 4 different Finance Supervisors at various times in the morning and they all told me the same story: The dealership sets the tiers and the interest rate on car loans. I phoned the dealership and the Finance Manager told me that whoever I was speaking with was wrong. Well, I went back and forth for a while between Corporate Finance and the Dealership, not getting a straight, verifiable answer from either party. I threatened to return the car. The finance manager again said it was Kia preventing them from lowering the rate. He finally got all of my credit scores from 3 reporting agencies (782) for all of them and was able to talk Kia into lowering the rate to 3.25% (weirdly on his report, it shows my credit score as 702 from TransUnion. I have no idea where he was getting his info). I still don't know who was being untruthful but I'll never buy another Kia product. If this is the way the company treats their customers, I would advise you to avoid them as well.read more
Careful with the paper work and more. PROCEED WITH CAUTION.

Bought my car in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada last March. InwIted almost 8’weeks.The Telluride was a new model to the lineup. Careful with the paper work. They aren’t too trustworthy. They are a car dealer after all. They made an error in basic additive math. That I eventually caught. Mostly cuz I didn’t want things written in scrap paper. Good lord. Seriously. Then They made an error in subtractive math later also.
Additionally, They don’t want to honour the warranty in Canada according to the manual in the car. They will say that Canada is “severe weather” (since when !) and the oil changes and maintenance should have been every 6000. Even though the manual clearly says 12000. Amd I was doing Every 8 already anyway. Cuz i didn’t trust the Kia oil. Which might be great for all I know. But when I asked to See It one time cuz the manual says specifically what standard must be used, it was not possible. Excuses. Exhausting. So get ready for trouble unless you get all this nonsense written down in advance and / or free maintenance checks for the warranty period. Also, TIRES! I tried to upgrade at sale. Was talked out of
It. Did my due diligence. They were seemingly right. The tires on my Telluride were rated good amd the warranty was 90000 km. So I was not worried. Guess what? Tires were done by 37700. And I am fifty with glasses and drive like it. I asked for new tires with a prorated price for my usage. Nope. They said that’s the tire company not them. Tire company says it’s Kia. I reported it to BBB, waiting
For an outcome. I suspect Kia is buying
Fake tires from China at a heavy discount. Extremely prevalent there. I know cuz I lived there many years They likely know it. No way can the real tires rated for 90000 be done before 38000. Lastly, I paid for the trailer wiring with the 7 harness amd not the factory 4. I bought the trailer towing package upgrade. I didn’t check when picking up car. Two months later I went to get my trailer in another city
Storage and guess what surprise I had? Yup, not a 7 pin wiring harness nor the brakes etc. Had to do it After market. Almost 800. So, I’m trying
To do that. Already paid 700 for the upgrade. That did not happen. Brutal! Be careful. Solid product. Good value for quality and build. Bit proceed with great diligence and check your boxes. Take your photos. Check and Double check. Including their math. This is what happens when Hyundai (famous for this stuff and more) buys Kia. I should have stuck with Toyota who I no issues with for 20 years.

As much as I like my new kia soul, I won't ever buy or refer anyone to buy a kia ever. The scams perpetrated at the denville NJ kia did me in. Showing me one price and putting a higher price in the contract without me seeing it ( they kept saying the computer wasn't working right) was the worst. Not telling me that the car was being delivered from pennsylvania was another long with all the usual tricks. If I want having car trouble that day, I would have left in the first hour.read more
