I subscribed to Mubi with the purchase of a new television. However, due to falling ill I did not have the opportunity to tune into the Mubi app.I have been requesting subscription cancellation, via emails to Customer Services since January 2021. Despite consecutive "generic" responses to my emails promising the issue has been resolved, for the 5th month running £9.99 has been debited from my bank account, implying that my cancellation requests are being ignored. So I continue to pay for a service I have never even used! Absolutely floored by the inexplicable behaviour, of what I naively deemed to be a Professional organisation!!

Great selection of films, BUT the Mubi app on my TV has the world’s most clunky and frustrating UI.FFS, there isn’t even a basic Search function! Tedious.
And when the source material is 4K/HDR, stream the goddam film in 4K/HDR - it’s not 2010.
Will definitely not be renewing.

I somehow got tied in a trial and MUBI is since charging my card despite having done everything possible to cancel my “subscription”.

Limited film selection in Malaysia

MUBI Malaysia used to offer a wide range of foreign films, with at least a new foreign film each day under its Now Showing section.However, since the new update a few months ago, the section is now just filled with low-rated Malay and Indonesian films, almost all without English subtitles (or any subtitles at all). Only once in a while do we get a proper foreign film like every other country, and most of the time we are excluded from a film's GLOBAL release for god knows what reason. Why is every country out there having access to the advertised films except for Malaysia? I'm close to cancelling if the selection is not improved.

Chromecast stream stuttering and freezing, overall experience not smooth.

Stream via Chromecast is never working. After asking help, support (without telling me)lowered stream quality in my preferences to 720p and claimed: "we solved the problem", go on. That's absolutely incredible. I have a 200Mb fiber connection that works smoothly with every other streaming service or app. Sometimes I even got stuttering and pixelated images when watching with wifi+hdmi cable. Movie selection is nice, but I think you really need to put more resources into improving infrastructure and apps.

Bad customer service: either no response or no help if they do respond

My experience with mubi's customer support has led to nothing but frustration and waisted time.Lack of response, and if they respond we're getting absolutely nowhere. If there was any service with the same amazing content, I would've switched immediately because of the bad service.
First I contacted customer service related to the smart TV app crashing or recurring encoding issues. Got a delayed response from mubi support with follow up questions which I answered, but I got no more help or info after that. Contacted them several months later about same recurring issue and let them know I was not satisfied with their lack of response, but never got any response on this either, and it has been months.
Another more recent case is that I got 6 friends to sign up for free trial (one more than the 5 necessary), to receive the totebag promised. Filled out the form and waited 4 months before I contacted support, and first then they told me that they could not validate 2 of the signups because one deleted their account after the free trial ended and the other one somehow got off the track with my link. They could have let me know they were holding the gift back; I had recieved a confirmation that it would be on its way and everything. I sent them some information to prove the invites, but they did not want to send the gift unless I got new invites. They could have just sent me the totebag when I went through the hustle of contacting support and proving invitations. I mean - the tote is merch for them anyway.

Edit regarding Mubi's reply:
I don't know why they claim I didn't contact them further about this issue, so I just sent Mubi copies of the emails that were never answered. This error was not solved and I never received any info about further investigations. Nothing but standard follow up questions as internet speed and devices.
About the tote bag prize: My main problem is not that there were issues with the validation, but that Mubi did not contact me about this. Both my Mubi account page showed 5 friends that had successfully signed up connected, and in addition I received the form and a confirmation mail. Of course I believed everything was in order.

they have been charging me 499rs every month even after me discontinuing their service several times.
I also have written to them twice.They only responded with an automated email.
The subscription is frankly not worth it
