Great for enterprise sites
I have seven Drupal sites on Pantheon. They have lots of integrations and heavy over-night cron jobs. They have been absolutely great to work with. I'm on the Platinum level of service. I don't know what it's like on other tiers. My experience has been tickets getting answered in minutes and phone calls getting answered. Everyone I've worked with there seems to really care about my site's health and uptime.
Great hosting company - specially for devs
Great hosting company. It provides a panel that is easy enough for regular customers to use, but enables developers to do advanced features, such us multi-dev environments, backups, site-cloning. It has several tools for developers and can also be used with a custom CI setup. They have good support as well, their team members have great knowledge about their tools and won't mind stepping into your site to troubleshoot any issues or propose improvements.
I only use Pantheon.io for hosting
I switched exclusively to using Pantheon.io for all hosting back in 2014 because I got tired of non-developer-centric hosting. Pantheon treats the security and performance of websites as a first consideration rather than as an afterthought. I love that Pantheon locks down the live site as read-only so that site defacements are nearly impossible. The dev/test/live structured developer workflow improves how developers and marketing teams work together to more quickly launch sites and publish content.
Goto for Drupal or Wordpress Enterprise Hosting.
Fantastic PAAS. Rock-solid performance, developer-focused platform. Great support. Reasonable pricing and plenty of overage forgiveness
The good, the bad and the ugly
*The good:* Pantheon's infrastructure provides a very good experience for freelancers and small teams developing WordPress sites. The Dev>Test>Live and Multi-dev environments work well when used with Lando for local development. *The bad:* Pantheon's architecture has a number of quirks ranging from the strange to the infuriating. Some plugins are just not compatible with Pantheon's hosting environment. While there are workarounds in many cases, they are often tricky to implement well - especially on a Windows dev machine. *The ugly:* Pantheon's support staff seem friendly but are completely unable to provide any real help. It feels as though their only job is to deflect any support request away from Pantheon, blaming your code, plugins or anything that would be outside of Pantheon's remit. In almost every interaction I've had with them the conversation has gone around in circles, even when I've given irrefutable evidence of a platform problem For the price they charge, I would expect better support. Overall I would not recommend Pantheon unless you are happy troubleshooting issues yourself and using "community" support.
Pantheon may have had real relevance in…
Pantheon may have had real relevance in the early 2000s, when managed hosting platforms solved problems that were much harder to handle internally. But by today’s hosting standards, I struggle to see the value. Our experience trying to migrate a client website away from Pantheon has been unnecessarily difficult. We have spent weeks trying to get meaningful assistance simply to unlock and transfer the Alexander Marchant website, with little progress and very limited support. Modern hosting platforms make migrations, backups, staging environments, DNS changes, and site transfers relatively straightforward. Pantheon, by comparison, has created more headaches than it has solved. What should have been a routine migration turned into repeated delays, unclear restrictions, and difficulty getting someone to take ownership of the issue. The support experience has been the most disappointing part. When a customer is actively trying to move a production website and needs clarification about ownership, transfer restrictions, billing, or platform locks, waiting weeks for meaningful assistance is unacceptable. Pantheon may have made sense during an earlier era of web hosting, but in 2026 there are far more flexible, responsive, and easier-to-manage options available. Based on this experience, I would not recommend Pantheon for businesses or IT providers that value straightforward administration, responsive support, and the ability to maintain control over their own websites. For us, the platform has caused considerably more frustration than benefit, and the migration experience has reinforced our decision to leave.
They don't care about the customer
They don't care about the customer. Please hire professionals. They simply block you and close the conversation, saying this is not our concern, please follow this link, that's how they ended the conversation.
Use a different host provider that cares about their customers
Like most typical human beings, i can forget things when life gets busy and hectic… last month I forgot to cancel my monthly membership with pantheon and only remembered when the usual invoice email arrived in my inbox.. I instantly messaged pantheon, within 5 minutes of the renewal, and explained my mistake and requested my money to be refunded. The service representative took my details and said he would pass it to his finance department for decision. Now, more than TWO WEEKS later I have just received an email refusing my request for a refund. WE ALL MAKE MISTAKES… mine was forgetting to cancel the renewal on my monthly subscription… Please DO NOT MAKE THE MISTAKE OF THINKING PANTHEON HOSTING WILL EVER HELP YOU. THEY’RE ONLY INTERESTED IN TAKING YOUR MONEY.
