I recently bought a pair of trainers. Upon receiving them, I found they were damaged I returned them expecting to receive a refund.Instead they send me a digital gift card instead. After calling them up they say they cannot do anything else, as that's their policy. I'm very upset and frustrated as far as I know, if the item is faulty you return for a full refund. I will definately not be shopping here anymore and i dont recommend this store. Poor quality, poor customer service. they take you moneyread more

Very disappointed from river island the prices are extremely high but the quality is really bad boughtmy son a set of top and bottom for £28 wore it’s once wash it and the trousers looks like as if it’s worn many times n it’s got tiny stuff on it also got my baby joggers same thing happened with that as customer I went there thinking prices are high maybe quality is good 2 but no was a big mistake....read more

I recently ordered my daughters clothes from river island online. The clothes looked beautiful to be fair and so did the shoes.But unfortunately the shoes didnt fit, they were far to tight fitted, saying my daughter has slim fit feet and the clothes after just wearing them for 3 hours began fluffing and looking really tacky. I took them back to the local store, where the manager told me its my fault the clothes began fluffing and told me the shoes couldnt be returned as they looked worn( i tried them on her they didnt fit so took them straight of ). I told her im not happy about the response, so she said 'well return them to where you bote them from'. I was very dissapointed to say thats £80 down the drain. Its not the first time the clothes have been very poor quality for the prices RI charge. RI has indeed gone very downhill with quality, I will never be purchasing from here again!!read more

Easy ordering and fast delivery. Quality is fine, not overly thick but smart looking.Sadly I had to return one item as the colour was not quite that of the image on the website.
Easy returns options with no need for a printer.
The only gripe I have is I know from the tracking the return has been received yet no refund yet. I returned an item to another high street store the same day as this one and I received my refund immediately the same day, not sure why its much longer with River Island given everything's electronic?read more

I had purchased a pair of boots online to be delivered to my local store, Kilmarnock, due 11th May.I hadn't had an email so went in to see if they were there. I had the misfortune to be served by probably one of the rudest sales assistant I have ever encountered. I was told the delivery wasn't in store. I asked if they could find out where it was, but was told I had to contact customer services myself. It was obviously a huge effort for her to get me the contact number, but she eventually did. When I tried the number, I got a message saying the number was closed. I returned to the shop to check and I had the number she'd given me. When I said it wasn't right, I was told that's the only number they had. I asked if she could suggest how I could find out where my order was, to which she said it was my problem as I'd bought the boots online and she couldn't help any more. I asked if they had the boots in store, whereupon she waved in the general direction of the shoe section and told me that was all they had. I returned home and went online, to discover the correct number for customer services. When I contacted them, they were able to update me that the boots had in fact been delivered to the shop on time and the error was on their part so he would contact the store to look for them and update me when I could collect them. An hour later, the store had indeed located them! So, the problem wasn't mine but in fact their mistake. I now have to make another trip in to Kilmarnock, and of course pay another lot of parking charges. Their staff, both in store and customer services need some training in customer relations. Mark at customer services did call me back later in the afternoon and he did at least apologise. However the response to my complaint was a 15%off discount code. What an insult for the stress and upheaval all this has caused. So to benefit from the compensation I need to spend money at River Island again. I don't think so.read more

Absolutely great service from the customer service ‘chat’ service.
I recently ordered the wrong item,having paid for them with PayPal I thought it would be impossible to cancel my order.
Using Chat was very quick, easy to use, connected to a service advisor immediately. Explained my mistake, she cancelled my order and told me that the money would be back in my account within 3-5 working days.
Within the hour the money was refunded into my account.
Absolutely an amazing service from Alex on chat. Definitely recommend that you use this service if you have any problem, so much quicker than trying to Speak to someone on the telephone and certainly so much quicker than sending an email.

Screaming with frustration here.. ordered and paid for a multipack of jeans online only to be sent a single pair.Called up to be told it’s a warehouse error and I have to rtn for refund even tho I want the jeans I can’t keep them as they won’t refund me at all if they don’t get them back. Begrudgingly sent them back, told to reorder and sent a new discount code Via email to replace the original code I used when ordering. No refund as yet but ordered same multipack again in good faith and today I get ANOTHER SINGLE PAIR OF JEANS... river island you now have £120 of my money and you are asking me to return the single pair of jeans again for a refund...!!!! How can you make the same ‘warehouse error’ on the same product again just over 1 week later...???? And why should I be left sitting here with no jeans and no money due to your error..???read more
