Any subscription based service that won't allow you to properly test their product without leaving bank details is a scam in my book.If your service is as great as advertised, then surely I'll pay to continue using it. However this company decided to deploy a business model that tricks people into giving them money by assuming a certain percentage of trial users will forget to cancel their subscription.read more
Netflix for books if Netflix curtailed your viewing after one series

I signed up for a 60 day trial with Scribd. Like any trial you browse and have a look at what is onoffer: I say this because I think the way this app tracks you is unfair and it’s why I won’t be continuing the trial. In order to cancel the service - and I hope I am actually cancelled from this service, given the many reviews on here - I was told I had listened to almost 50 audiobooks in the past 3 weeks.
Reader - I listened to three complete audiobooks.
Maybe I listened to a handful of previews of other audiobooks but the figure quoted is completely wrong.
If this were another service the previews would not have counted. Usually you get 30 seconds or a percentage to preview content and then you are told that’s your limit. You would at least be told you were previewing the content or that you had exceeded a preview limit.
Not with this misleading app.
I also browsed some ebooks but actually read none of these and yet it said I had “read” them. I maybe browsed the first few pages.
I wish Scribd was more honest in what they are offering. It’s not unlimited and it’s not using a fair estimate of what you do when using the app. If they were clearer about how you are tracked this would lead to a more pleasant experience.
Imagine a website that thinks you have read everything on it by virtue of having visited each page for a fraction of a second.
Scribd is not an unlimited service. It’s not Netflix. It’s more like a pay per view cable package that gives you a free ten to twenty hour view limit. And then limits you to channels nobody wants to watch.
Netflix allows you access to all of its content at any point.
Scribd doesn’t do that.
Instead it’s like you watch Breaking Bad for one season and then you are told you have to wait until next month to watch season two. You then watch a number of trailers and then settle on a film. Great. After that you realise you are offered nothing from the main catalogue but cable nonsense that you don’t want to watch.
Save yourself the money and get audible or use your local library. It’ll probably be worth it in the long run.read more
I paid for my subscription, now GIVE ME ACCESS

I’d like an answer here considering you guys seem to be more responsive here than the actual app.Unlike others who have been taken of their money without wanting to use, I have been taken of my money without being able to use the app!!!
I paid for my subscription and it even says on my Apple account that it is an active subscription, you guys have taken the money from my account, and I have ZERO access to anything. It says I don’t have a subscription active on the app, only giving me the option to buy again, when I just bought it 10 minutes ago and the money is gone!!
Absolutely unimpressed I’d either like access or my money back ASAP. You don’t pay for a GD service and then not receive it. Ticket #3343309read more

Somehow, my subscription wasn't cancelled. $10,79 was taken from my card. Didn't even got any receipt on my mail. For example, Netflix warns you and sends receipt every time. Support doesn't answer. Do not recommend this service. Support Ticket #3237701
UPDATE
Got an answer, was promised to have my money back for the last month. I hope that will really happen. Also, a tip for everyone. Ask them to delete your banking details.read more
