AVOID - THEY ARE SCAMMING CUSTOMERS BY REFUSING REFUNDS

DO NOT SHOP HERE THEY ARE SCAMMING PEOPLE THROUGH DECLINING VALID REFUNDS. I purchased a set of £3799 headphones from Selfridges at the beginning of March.I received them and realised they were far too heavy for my needs. Please note the weight was not listed on the website description so I had no idea how heavy they were until I received them. Based on the weight I DID NOT use them. I DID NOT open any accessories. I arranged the return using their online portal on the same day that I received them and they were collected using their own courier the next day! A couple of weeks passed and I had not received my refund, I contacted Selfridges and they advised they needed to track them down as thy had been returned to the wrong department. A few days passed with no reply, so I contacted Selfridges again and this time they said they were still trying to locate them and get me a refund approved. Within hours a different representative emailed me to say they were being checked and inspected. About one hour later a third representative emailed me to inform me they would not be refunding me based on the fact that the separate headphone cable packaging has been opened. I disputed this as I had not opened any cables or accessories as I had not used the item at all. I also advised them that the packaging they referred to was a really cheap clear plastic bag that was not sealed anyway... I also demanded that Selfridges send me prove of the damage they insisted on in the form of photographs. They came back to me and advised they would not be refunding me based on their decision and they did not provide any evidence to support their decision. To today I have not received the item back and I am out of pocket £3799 - I am absolutely distraught by this and it is starting to really cause me concern, stress and serious anxiety... especially given that the current situation everybody is facing. I expected so much better customer service from Selfridges. From reading trust pilot reviews, my situation seems to be the norm for thousands of others. I expected better from Selfridges and they appear to be nothing but scamming people through declining refunds that are perfectly valid. SELFRIDGES SHAME ON YOU!!! DO NOT SHOP HERE.

The worst customer service I have ever experienced!!!!

I never write reviews and rarely have bad experiences but I felt this needed documenting for others to be aware of.I purchased a Burberry coat through Selfridges online over two weeks ago now. The coat arrived, I tried it on at home in my bedroom but unfortunately it was too big. I packaged the coat back up and arranged a return pick up for the next working day. After waiting over a week and receiving no refund I contacted Selfridges customer service to be told that my return request had been cancelled but they didn’t know why and would raise it again for me. I was then told to wait further to be contacted by someone else. Another few days passed and still no refund or contact from Selfridges so I called again and this time spoke to a different advisor who told me my return had been sent to senior management who were going to check if I was going to receive a refund or not. I was told that someone would be contacting me later that day (which they didn’t) At this point there was still no explanation why and I was feeling very confused and upset as to why this was even happening. I had followed the returns procedure correctly and was still out of pocket nearly £1100. Another couple of days passed and I finally received an email to say that the coat was going through an inspection to see if it was in a saleable condition and whether I would receive a refund for my item or not. I found this really distressing and so replied to the email to ask for further details regarding this. Selfridges later replied that day to say the coat was not in a saleable condition as there were marks on the coat and scratches on the belt. This was not the case as I had the coat out of the packaging for around 10 minutes while trying it on and I packaged the coat up neatly myself when returning it. NO MARKS OR SCRATCHES. Selfridges are now saying they won’t provide a refund for a coat I haven’t worn and they want to send the coat back to me, which I have no use for as it didn’t fit which is why I returned it. I am absolutely outraged at this terrible customer service from Selfridges. When you buy an item that costs over £1000 you do not expect to be treated in this way. I am going to be making a formal complaint further to this review and will not be ordering from them again!!!!

German customers stay away - No taxes will be refunded on returned items

I bought a pair of trousers which were shipped to Germany. The tax on this purchase (80 GBP)is non refundable in the case of unsuitable purchases. It seems very unusual business practice for this to one of the General Terms of sale. I don’t understand why this was not made clearer as part of the buying process. It would have been so easy to highlight this fact, particularly as it is a deviation from usual international online sales practice. Very customer unfriendly and annoying

No option to hide receipt unless you pay £5 extra

The birthday chocolates I ordered went to the wrong address. If you order a gift, Selfridges will not remove the transaction receipt,despite the separate billing address option, unless you 'choose' to gift wrap it for £5 extra; this even if you telephone them (the gift boxes are plain and not particularly nice), which seems particularly unfair.

I purchased a Burberry bucket bag from them since their pricing is a tad bit cheaper than Burberry website and I am so sorry I made that call.I should have just purchased from Burberry direct OR another reputable site like Neiman's. I made my purchase on the morning of 3/15 and received email confirmation of shipping the same day of my order. Needless to say I was very excited at this quick turn around and assumed the delivery would be just as smooth BOY was I wrong. On Friday 3/19 I got a notification my package was delivered with DHL. I rushed home from work to check and the package was not there. It wasn't in my package locker nor my front door or mailbox. Upset and confused I emailed customer support that same day 3/19 and on 3/21 they responded advised they would open an investigation into my issue. I felt pretty confident as a reputable company that they would either locate the package for re-delivery or issue a refund to me. Unfortunately neither of these occurred. After almost 2 weeks of petty back and forth Selfridges has decided that me not receiving a package they promised to deliver is not their issue. They are stating that the package was GPS tracked (over 400 apartments at the same address btw) and that the delivery driver was interviewed and confirmed he delivered it to the right place (as if human error/ memory is super reliable). However on 3/28 they stated the package was signed for then on 3/31 they stated it was delivered to a locker? I will say if you live in an apartment complex or even a home for that matter do not order from this place. They do not care where the package is dropped, only that is it geographically NEAR your address. And if you dare complain they will only provide robotic responses similar to the ones on this post. this company will not do everything they can for you in the off chance your precious (expensive) package does not make it into your hands. They STILL cant tell me WHO signed for the package or WHAT LOCKER it was delivered to. They are grasping at straws to lie and above all not stand behind a delivery that was supposed to occur. Buyer beware!
