Great 2 months in Brussels

Great experience. The flat is perfectly located near the city center.

STAY AWAY FROM THEM

I booked an apartment in Brussels via Hotels.com and had a very poor experience. The property (Smartflats) did not match the photos or description on the site. Essential amenities like Wi-Fi and TV didn’t work at all, the toilet seat was broken, and the room had serious cleanliness and safety issues (stained curtains, dusty fan, cracked stool that caused an injury, scratched floor, worn furniture). I reported all of this during my stay, with photos, but nothing was fixed. The property later offered only 15% off a future booking, which is useless since I will never book with them again. Hotels.com then told me they “can’t do anything” because of the cancellation policy, even though I did not cancel—I paid and stayed but did not receive the services advertised. Hotels.com continues to list this provider with a good rating despite many similar complaints. Very disappointing experience, and I’ve lost trust in the platform.

This is bad. Don’t do it!

This is bad. Very bad. Heating / AC are not working in early February. It’s cold here. They put down a little space heater which is insufficient. There is no WiFi. So no internet but also no television. I managed to get through to someone via WhatsApp. They were friendly enough but have so far not been able to do anything. The place is not very clean. Cutlery and some plates and cups are dirty. Inside the waste bin cabinet it’s dirty. There are strange sticky patches on the floor.

Horrendous experience

Horrendous experience. Bathroom smelled so bad when I arrived. Made me feel sick my whole stay. I was told at reception they would compensate me and now they are telling me they aren’t !! Wouldn’t recommend at all.

Missold , theft from my account and lies

I’m messaging this over 4 months later as I wanted to make sure my review wasn’t based on emotions. However, please avoid booking with this company at all costs. I booked an apartment in Belgium with them specifically paying for a 3 bedroom apartment which turned out to be unlike the images on booking.com and actually only 2 bedrooms. I was told that the booking room they provide is not always correct but why do they list 2 beds cheaper than 3 beds. They were clearly trying to cover their tracks. Not only this their property was damaged with microwave broken, dirty floors and the table near tv that kept falling. I had barely any communication from them even stating we would pick up with booking.com as they were not responding to us. Booking.com gave us a refund but as they had my card on file they took money from my account without giving me any notification. This was a serious breach. The company has been blacklisted by my bank now. Any security deposit you put down please be aware. They say they don’t have your card details on file but if they don’t they how are they about to charge your card additional amounts outside of a security deposit. Upon checkout I wanted to speak to manager who we couldn’t because he was hiding away so they made another woman speak to us to try to resolve the situation stating they would give a 40% discount. I mentioned for the lack of communication and issues it caused with the number of people staying they should give a 50% discount specifically so it is fair and that we could part ways. Unfortunately, they didn’t see this as something they could do and would not let me speak to the manager! I had to then raise a dispute with my bank which took about 2 months but closed in my favour. They clearly lied about what they could offer and did not want to resolve the issue. Luckily my bank closed this in my favour as they had no lack of true reasoning for the way they missold us. I’m sure they’ll come up with a false response but I’m happy to provide photos and email screenshots if I could. They did not try to resolve a single thing after we had left Belgium. (@smartflats im sure you will agree you we did try our best to settle.) Ide also like to note they need better guest relations officers because William was extremely rude and had no lack of understanding of where smartflats had gone wrong stating ‘but we still stayed at the property’ which they would have known about if they had checked the countless times we emailed for an update. Sorry but where were we going to go if we came from London to Brussels? We needed your team to give us a three bed to accommodate the people staying in the falsely advertised apartment. Not to also mention where we were told to pick up keys from originally was not where we ended up picking keys up from. We had to walk 20 mins to another office. They only told us very late on the day.

I’m giving Smartflats midi 33 a 1 star…

I’m giving Smartflats midi 33 a 1 star based on the hassle I experienced with check in which caused unnecessary stress and anxiety, they advise you will get the details 48 hours before check in, I eventually got them 25 mins before check in, after numerous calls & web chats with Vrbo & trying to contact Smartflats (whose number and email don’t exist) after 2 hours on the phone to a manager at Vrbo I was advised to arrive anyway and hope I got the details, not great when you are arriving in a foreign city at night with 2 kids! Both companies in my opinion were disgraceful and I will be avoiding in the future. Once we finally got into the apartment, it took 15 mins because the icons on the key code had faded & instructions were not clear, it was as the other reviews state… very basic, mouldy, shower door broken, no TV controller (not a huge issue but stating anyway) and broken curtains and curtain rails. I would personally avoid booking this accommodation, pay a bit more if you can & avoid Smartflats Brussels

Avoid avoid avoid

Avoid avoid avoid, if they appear in a booking.com or hotels.com site, AVOiD this company. We booked a deluxe 2 bed apartment, I had to email to get the access code, we arrived at 9:30pm to find we had been given a filthy 1 bed apartment, their customer services were useless, one of us had to sleep on the floor in a grubby apartment. Disgusting.
