I purchased a Stromer back in 2023

I purchased a Stromer back in 2023. I live in the Orlando area and purchased from a dealer in Saint Augustine. I already have 4000 miles on it and it starts right up every time. This is the most reliable e-bike (maybe vehicle) I have ever owned. My commute is 15 miles each way and I don't have to use a car because of my bike!

Owning a Stromer - pros and cons

Owning a Stromer bike is definitely more complex than owning a normal bike or e-bike. I usually build my own bikes but with my Stromer bike, I don’t touch anything. Also I have had a fair amount of repairs in a relatively short time. So all in all a quite expensive and cumbersome owning experience compared to a normal bike. That said, riding my Stromer bike makes up for all of this. As a owner of several road, gravel and mtb, I have a good deal of experience riding different bikes. The Stromer bike is both a very good bike and e-bike. Quality components, a very composed ride, custom solutions which really stands out (eg the mudguards). Also, the software and electronics is in a league of its own. Yes, there are some errors and issues with the software, but when you think of how far ahead Stromer are compared to their competitors, this is to be expected. To sum up, you will probably never switch to another brand if you need a long distance commuter bike, when you have tried a Stromer. If you ride less than 20km, I would probably suggest you get a normal ebike instead.

Very expensive replacement parts

My stromer st1 was a absolute joy to ride. But unfortunately only up to 20,000 kms. The only issues I had were minor such as flat tires, brake pads replacement and chain replacement. Now the motor is "kaput"(no_com message) and is so expensive to be replaced, that I believe is not worth the value of the bike.

Stromer ST3 problem

I bought a stromer bike ST3. One year later I got a problem with the starting device. I went to the bicycle shop to repair this issue. 3 months later my bycicle is still not repaired !!! Stromer is doing nothing, is not sending the new starting device. My shop has only e-mail and cannot contact stromer by phone. You will also not find on their website any phone number or customer service center. No stromer bicycles for me anymore. Too bad customer service. They don't care about their clients !!!

Stay clear from Stromer

Very disappointing experience. I purchased a Stromer ST1X in 2019 with a 2G omni controller. On the 28th August 2020 Stromer sent an email that they would allow the display do be changed at a discounted price since the 2G service was going to be switched off. At the time this vehicle was out of the country and for that reason it wasn’t possible to be changed including COVID that prevented me to bring it over to be replaced. Furthermore the country it was located in at the time still offered 2G connectivity. So I never had it changed. 5 years later in 2025 another email, this time for my husband’s Stromer which currently has a 3G omni controller saying that this can be upgraded due to the planned termination of the 3G service. Since both vehicles are now in Switzerland I brought them in for the omnis to be replaced. The 3G model will be replaced at a discount, yet Stromer is refusing to sell me an upgraded omni for the 2G model at a discounted price since it is not eligible. This is so wrong on many levels. You would have sold me a 3G model at the time as part of your upgrade program which would have meant that I only 5 years later I had to upgrade again. Do you really expect me to upgrade the controller every 5 to retain the basic functionality of the bike you sold me? In addition to this Stromer no longer offers direct customer support. Now everything has to go through their agents so one is at complete mercy of their agents. It’s a very expensive bike, which is lovely to ride, yet I would never ever purchase it again solely for the absolutely atrocious customer service right from the day of purchase until now.

Poor build quality for a commuter bike

In general Stromer offers a really nice ride experience when it works. The problem is that the parts are not dimensioned to be on a commuter bike. If you ride anything above 10km per day the cost of maintainence is crazy. Their chains and cassette are only lasting 1500km. I ride 20km per day each way. Meaning I have to change casette and chain and do a service every second month, costing at least 250 EUR. I bought the bike as a car replacement, but due to poor quality parts it is a better solution to keep the car

I got a Stromer ST2 in 2021 on a bike…

I got a Stromer ST2 in 2021 on a bike lease and although it was a pleasure to drive when it actually worked, It has been in the shop at least once every 6 months, even though it drove less than 5000km in total. Examples are faulty electronics, a broken gear system that had to be replaced, poor waterproofing of the display. Since today the battery will not eject anymore and the bike refuses to charge via the normal connection point. So basically I got a 6000€ bike that had to get into the shop for expensive (and I do mean expensive) repairs every 1000km. Stay away from this brand, It is a complete joke. I rarely leave reviews, however I did this time as anyone considering this brand deserves fair warning.
