For starters, since i am a Swedish citizen. Therefore i am by law forced to pay for their services.It used to be somewhat "non-mandatory". But in recent years, since so many people were dissatisfied with the services provided by Swedish public service and they therefore wouldn't get the money they needed to pay their awful programming because of it, we were all enforced by law to have the salaries of one of the most biased media stations in the country paid for by the people by tax, so it used to be that people simply tried to (justifiably) "cheat" their way out of it by having to lie about having a TV or radio at home. Which by law in simple terms meant that "if you have a TV (the apparatus itself) at home, no matter if you watch television on it or not, or a radio device, you are obliged to pay for public service.
So obviously, since public service in Sweden is awful, people lied about having said devices. Because most people simply use those for things like streaming or display moduled, there will be need for a new tax to make sure EVERYONE pays for the state enforced production of biased reporting and entertainment provided to you.
There are a lot more points to be made about the company that is SVT itself, besides the funding that it receives, but that's a story for another day and i'm sure that i can trust anyone annoyed enough with what is going on will already look/have looked into it themselves. These people don't deserve any funding.
