What does The Telegraph do?

The Telegraph's mission is to provide content that inspires people to have the perspective they want to progress in life. It delivers quality, trusted, award-winning journalism, 24 hours a day, across its digital and print properties as well as through leading digital partners. Founded in 1855, The Telegraph has built a diversified commercial model, with equal strength in advertising, subscriptions and circulation, commerce, and events. In 1994, The Telegraph launched an online offering, the first UK publisher to do so. The launch in 2016 of a digital subscriptions model, with clearly defined open and premium content, has enhanced its ability to offer both scale and engagement to support this diversified approach. The Telegraph's portfolio includes The Telegraph website and app, The Daily Telegraph and The Sunday Telegraph print titles, and The Telegraph Edition app which offers a digital replication of the newspapers. 27.2 million Britons consume content across the portfolio monthly, with a growing global digital audience through 107 million browsers a month enjoying The Telegraph's perspective on the world. Additionally, The Daily Telegraph is the UK's best selling quality broadsheet newspaper. *NRS PADD July 2017. Adobe Analytics, February 2017. Extremely biased opinion driven journalism and vanity pieces designed to enrage their clientele and discredit societal progress - all hidden behind a pay wall that acts as a 'club membership'for the vacuous.

If only the Telegraph wasn't so rabid ...

Reviewed on 2021-03-22T13:52:57

I read the Telegraph on-line as it's good to hear views completely at odds to one's own.Standing back a bit and evaluating the newspaper within its own terms of reference, I think it would be a more credible commentator if only it weren't so rabid in its right-wing philosophy. I just think that being so overtly declaratory and reactionary drains away value and credibility from their analysis. They could probably take a lesson from the Guardian that is supposedly left-wing but not to the point of dogmatism and obsession. I say this as someone who regularly disapproves of some of the Guardian's middle-of-the-road, middle aged and middle class politics. But at least the Guardian is sufficiently perspectival to entertain the notion the other side might have a point or two to make ...

Staggered at tabloid Telegraph

Reviewed on 2021-03-03T10:16:52

Am staggered at how much of a tabloid The Telegraph online news site is. Only recently started reading it,and whilst I share the irritation of paywall blocks (plenty other news sites do the same) I don't accept the dumbing-down of reporting. It used to be an intelligent read, if right wing. I'm no leftie by any means but prefer to read both sides for balance. This does not achieve that in any clear thinking way whatsoever.

Not news

Reviewed on 2021-02-27T12:42:00

Not news, clickbait. Everytime I've gone to read and article, theres a pay wall half a paragraph in.Not news. Every article I'm drawn in by is important stuff but I'm not going to subscribe when I can google the article title and find more on the subject for completely free. The telegraph is not news. 'We're sleepwalking into becoming North Korea or China' fear mongering for the sake of clicks and views is what I expect from a youtuber thats not doing so great- not a news company. Do better. Be better.

"Get the full story" pay wall

Reviewed on 2021-02-26T02:37:42

I read the news alot with google. However, when one of the articles that are actually interesting and you want to read it; the site won't let you view it unless you pay and subscribe...why? "Get the full story" what a joke. There are no other news outlets/sites on google that do this. I've looked long and hard. 7news, 9news the guardian and abc just to name a few; thay see no need to do this. Seems grubby, deceiving and almost feels like extortion just to catch up on the news. Very disappointing. Especially when the article is covid related. Sure, sell news papers and subscriptions for the full paper online. But this? Just no. Why? Is the daily freakin telegraph that bloody special?! Shame.
